| I am looking at 3 horse, slant load, bumper pull trailers. I want all aluminum. So far the brands I have looked at is a brand new CM and a brand new Sundowner. Also, looked at a 2002 Featherlite, 1999 Sundowner, and a 1997 Hart. What is your experience with these brands? |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | We bought a 2015 CM 3 hhorse slant, BP at the beginning of the year. It pulled alright. Quality was decent enough. But any horse we put in the front stall would fall. Not sure if it was just too narrow to spread their legs out for balance or what, but we sold it for that reason. Happened every time we hauled. Good luck. |

| I have a 1996 CM bumper pull, and I'm the 2nd owner. It's been a fantastic trailer. It is only a 2 horse though, so not the same model. I want to move up to a 3H GN with some dressing room/LQ space and am considering keeping my 2H because it's been such a great easy trailer to hook up and go. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | The '99 sundowner probably isn't all aluminum. I have a '97 that is on a steel frame. It's a great trailer, pulls great and has held up well. That year range did have a problem with the steel frame rusting, but I think it was mostly a problem in areas where they get a lot of snow and ice and use salt on the roads. This one has been in south louisiana its whole life and I don't see a problem when we examine the frame from time to time. I know they have that reputation, so I keep a close eye on it. Mine has some rust, but it's nowhere near as bad as I have heard described in stuff I have read online. Just normal rust you'd expect on an eighteen year old trailer.
The good thing about buying used is that any problems should be well documented and you can find out a lot with an online search. Just google "99 sundowner problems" or whatever other models you're looking at and you should get lots of things to read about the older trailers.
eta: don't let the problems scare you. Just educate yourself and know what to look for while you're shopping. Just because certain trailers have a common problem, it doesn't mean the one you're looking at will have the same problem and you can often get a great deal because most people just steer clear and don't bother to look and see if it's even a problem on that trailer.

Location: South of Canada and North of Mexico | I have a newer featherlite, its a 2 horse straight but I LOVE it. Pulls great, stalls are huge and no complaints. Of course I would have loved a Platinum or other "nicer" brand but for new under $14K Im very happy with it. I was looking used but everything used was not much less than buying new. |

Location: North Dakota | For a short time, I borrowed a newer Featherlite trailer that had a large dressing room and was a 3-horse slant. I did NOT like it because if there was a good side wind blowing as you were driving down the interstate, it would start to fish tail.
Personally, I will only ever own goosenecks.
