Location: North Dakota | We do a smudge as well...didn't know it had a name...lol. The skeeters are ridiculous this year!!! I was just watching the barn swallows doing their part this morning. I was just thinking how we need some bats to help out a bit. |

Location: SE KS | I thought I heard Listerine in a spray bottle sprayed around the area keeps them away? I was hoping this thread
would lend some truth to this. |

I did smudge over kill last night. My neighbors 2 miles away were probably getting the benefits. I had 3 going and a few of the horses stand right over the pile. |

Location: Kansas and loving it | Well I tried lighting hay to smoke, the horses constantly moved away from the smoke. My neighbor came over to see what in the world I was doing. I tried the skin so soft, vinegar and dawn, worked ok. Had to reapply about as much as regular fly spray. I am trying the beer and listerine next. However, cinnamon to get rid of ants, OH YEAH! |

Location: Montana | Our mosquitoes are TERRIBLE...I got some fly spray in a concentrate to mix up that another horse person recommended. I have yet to try it, but the bugs are trying to bite me through my OFF! spray tonight. Not as bad, but still annoying. Feel sorry for my horses, my friend had some fly psray leftover from when her old horse died she let me use, and it helped but some mosquitoes aren't phased. |
