| Thinking about using Plains Horizon for a embryo has anyone else insured through them or anyone else? Filed a claim? Just wondering if it is really worth it. |

Yep insured my ICSI babies in utero with them, we lost one at birth they paid right away. I use them now for all my insured horses. Great people and company! |

| I have insured two pregnancies with Plains Horizon that I had to file claims on. There are two options for how long the foal is insured after birth, and I chose the longer amount of time. Very glad I did because with one of them the foal was around 3 weeks old or older when she got sick and passed away. They were excellent to work with, and as soon as all of the paperwork was filed we received a check with no hassles. I would highly recommend them for this type of insurance. |

Location: OH | We have ours insured with Plains also, we have never had a claim---thank goodness, but have only heard good things about them. Marvin is very knowledgeable about the barrel racing industry and is really aiming towards that market. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | We have been through Wilkins for several years but also are just in the process of switching to Plains Horizon.
The expenses really add up on some of these foals, and if you are using a stallion with no LFG or are on your last year of a breeding contract, it is really important to have the investment covered. |

Location: Here | There is an age limit however for aged mares who are carrying and they won't insure those |

PROSPECTIVE FOAL POLICY (EMBRYO) REQUIREMENTS Vet Exam on the Mare or Recipient Mare Sire and Dam Name, Insured Value Foaling History of Mare: ex: maiden mare, how many foals, any at her side, etc Last breeding date or embryo transfer date Dates and results of 2 ultrasounds between 15 & 50 days, one at inception if possible **This policy is a separate policy from your Full Mortality Policy. It will cover the embryo from the time of placing to policy up to when the foal is 45 days old. At that time we can add the foal to your Full Mortality Policy with a Statement of Health. The rates on these policies vary from 10-15% depending on the above factors, we do have to submit these for a quote. |

| Well I asked about that to begin with if I needed specific date ultrasounds but it just said 15-50 so I did 18days and 30days with heartbeat and now I think they want a 45day check but suppose to call and let me know. I just was curious what everyone else did. Thanks for the info ! |
