| I work for a non-profit and I am in charge of some fundraising activities. I work for a Pregnancy Care Center that is pro-life and teaches a abstinence based program in all the high schools. We provide STD testing, free ultrasounds to abortion minded clients and provide parenting classes for social services. Everything we offer is free to those who need it, however clients must work for what they get-they earn it. We are not a place of handouts. We did a golf tournament Saturday and it went over well, but I was thinking about doing a barrel race to raise money (mainly, because my other passion is barrel racing). BUT, I want to do it right and make it appealing for people to come out for the day and enjoy a great race. I have talked to a few supporters and I think I could get saddles, buckles, bronco halters, breast collars, and jackets for top 5 in each division. I would love to get the use of a trailer for one year to the 1D champion. Any advice or thoughts would be great!
I was thinking of one run to win it all. How much do you charge for entries? Guarantee payout/added money? Do you think people would support this cause? Any thoughts, advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Location: Kansas | if your going to do that, you're going to want sponsors because with the prizes you are wanting to give....that takes $$$, and you don't want to charge outrageous fees for the race either. |

| I don't know anything about being in charge of setting up a barrel race so I can't help you out there but this is a cause I would definitely support! :) Good Luck! |

| Races up here with big awards and decent amounts of added money are $45 a run usually with a $10-$20 office fee. You'll definietely want sponsors and come up with creative advertising for them at the event.
ETA also suggest sanctioning with an organization - you get more help that way too.

I can say this its going to be really hard work and I hope that you can find someone that has put on races and know the ropes about putting one on to help you out, you will need someone that knows how to do the pay outs.. | I suggest that you get help from someone who has put on barrel races. There is a lot more to barrel race than securing prizes. There is a TREMENDOUS amount of clerical work that someone needs to be experienced in. |
