Location: TN | I've been treating my boy with THE GastroPlus and it seems to be helping but I've had to give it to him mixed with water in a syringe because he refuses to eat it in his feed. He is turned out and gets grain 1x a day. I tried mixing it with soaked beet pulp and it didn't work either. After this treatment I'm probably going to start him on THE Muscle Mass w/ ulcer preventative, but I'd love for him to eat it on his feed.
How do you get your horse to eat his/her supplement?
In the past I have tried Silver Lining Herbs (he wouldn't eat it either) and Formula 1 Noni (he liked this, but I don't know that it helped him with ulcer prevention). I really like the THE and want to stick with it, I just need him to start eating it. |

Location: In the saddle enjoying the East Texas sky | Mix a small ammount of molasses or pancake syrup on top of the supplement to make a wet clump (it's best to pour the supplement on top of the feed then do the syrup/supplement mix) and then mix it in really well with the grain. I had to do this with a thin thoroughbred built gelding who wouldn't eat his feed or supplements. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Applesauce can work pretty as does Karo syrup.
There is a huge difference in the taste of GastroPlus over the Muscle Mass. I've never had a horse not just eat the Equine Edge or Muscle Mass supplement. |

That's good to know! Krystal told me it wasn't nearly as strong smelling so that should help. |

| I mix mine in alf alfa after I soak it in water. If they leave any alf alfa, I will then put a little feed or rice bran in it. |

| I buy the cheapest pancake syrup at Walmart. Put the supplement on the feed then pour syrup over and mix. Once the horse gets used to the supplement I stop the pancake syrup. I always mix in the supplement anyway. I think the reason I that I switched from THE is that picky man quit eating it. I feed Platinum and all of mine eat it well, even picky man. |

Location: Somewhere in the middle of nowhere | Mine wouldn't eat it either, so I made sure I cut the dose in half and fed it 2x a day....I do mix with beet pulp, barley and water. Now he waits impatiently for his feed....also, another little trick I picked up on with him....I moved his bucket to the fence where I have another horse, his competitiveness made him decide to not be so picky. Not sure if it really did the trick but it sure seemed to. |

Location: Sunny So Cal | Have you tried red wheat bran mixed with apple juice and then add small pieces of carrots and apples. I had one that I had to grate the carrots and apples otherwise she would pick them out and leave the bran. I have another one that eats everything as long as his cherry electrolytes are in there. It doesn't matter what supplement you feed, if the cherry electrolytes weren't in there, he wasn't touching it. I also had a friend that would drill holes in apples and fill them with bute and that is how her horse would eat it, don't see why you couldn't do the same with GastroPLUS. |

you have to get creative when you are trying to trick a horse or convince them that they like it. |

| Mine really REALLY like Healthy Coat so I mix it in with the supplements so it's like "puppy chow." Mine like the H.C. so much they don't mind the supplements |

| We keep our horses on beet pulp year round just so we can hide supplements! Works great! |
