| http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/runawaywiththemoon I have a super talented little filly... Her bloodlines are pretty good (her sire isn't as well-known as he should be but most of his babies that are running are doing very well and he has a couple 1D babies). She's put together very well and she's just as sweet as you'd want one to be.
Here's the kicker, she was ran through the wire fence here a coulple months back and cut up her leg really ugly. No permanent damage was done and she is 100% sound, and she will go on to be ridden and trained as usual, but she now has a scar there. The hair is growig back over it but it's still visible, and it's not very pretty. I don't have a picture of the scar and this is the most recent picture I have on my computer of her. Judging the circumstances as well as her bloodlines and build, what would you say someone would pay for her as is? Please be honest but not mean (: |

| Honestly I would say no more then 750
As she is not broke
Has an ugly scar still healing
You say she is 100% sound but it will be a gamble to see if the leg will hold up as there is always adhesions, scar tissue, and the long term effects of inflammation (if the leg was swollen for a period of time it could be a few months before bony changes such as bone spurs shows up) |

| Unfortunately I think you are going to have a really hard time selling her. There are just so many prospects out there to choose from, it's really easy for buyers to pass up ones with scars (or anything else that will reflect the resale value), no matter how nice they are. Would you consider keeping her until after she is started? I don't have any guarantees, but I would think that if you had her going where you could see her current abilities, it would give you more to market, rather than just her bloodlines and appearance. I would think someone might be more willing to overlook the scar because of something they see in her ability. Otherwise, I'm afraid you will have to offer her at an extreme discount compared to similar prospects to get someone to take a chance on her. |

| Thank you for your honest input. I was originally planning on keeping her until she is broke and riding but I've lightly considered selling her. I think I will keep her until she is rideable... Hypothetically, what do you think her worth would have been without the injury? |

Location: Running my kids somewhere. | There are so many out there to choose from. As the breeder you are not going to get what you feel she is worth overlooking the scar. I have a great mare but she has an uglt scar. It has been 10 years and she is completely sound. People still questioned it and were not willing to spend the money and take the chance. |

| Depends on how serious you are about selling. I would say $750, but maybe without the cut, or when the cut is healed up...$1,500.
If she were mine that would be how I would price her, but $1,500 would likely be the highest I would ask.
I bought a skinny horse with a few issues for $500. One man's trash is another ones treasure. ;-) And another one before that same price, he turned into a super star. |

Location: Missouri | She has BA75 closer on her pedigree than some of the "nice" prospects I've seen...and that's something I've been looking for... So, not worthless to all! I think she's cute! |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Around here she would not sell for much with that leg being hurt and scar. Maybe 600.00 to 800.00. Theres just so many out there to choose from and I would pass on her since she was hurt unless I got her for a really low price then I may take a chance on her, but just depends on how bad of a cut she had and where it was at. |

Location: Buffalo, TX | Last year I bought a really nice 1D gelding and he wasn't cheap...both of his back legs down thru his hooves have unsightly scars from where he obviously went through a fence years before....his accomplishments and the way he rode way more than made up for that, plus the fact that he was 100% sound in every way....I was telling my friend last night how lucky I am to have him and that he was worth every penny I paid for him....moral of the story...keep your horse and make her the best you can, then they'll all wish they had bought her when she was cheap.... |

Location: Southern Oregon | you are better off keeping her and starting her at least. $750 would be the most I would pay for a filly with her papers and "healing" injury. $1500 would be tops of what I would pay for her unstarted this late in the year. |

Location: wolverton,mn | If she has successful siblings in your area, advertise her around there. She's cute and although I can't see the injury scar, there are so many injuries that heal fine. I think the longer you keep her,the more chance of her bringing more cash. there are " rescue " horses that bring more than 750 though....good luck |
