| I have a 4 year old mare! I bought her back in the fall! Got her home and she was doing fine! She loped good circles, backed, flexed etc! Winter came and we had a lot of snow and me being from the south I hate the cold! So I didn't ride her much for probably close to a month! I got back on her when the weather broke and she tried to buck, I didn't think nothing of it since she had been off for a while and she was still young! We were loping circles and she just stopped, started running backwards and she fell down! I had rode her a few times after and she still tried to buck! So I sent her to a guy I knew and let him ride her for a few weeks, got her back and she was a little better....now that my work has picked up, and I'm about to start school I haven't had as much time with her, so she doesn't get rode everyday like she should! When I do she still wants to buck, I have even worked her in the round pen but when I try to make her lope, she kicks out at me or tries to charge me! I don't know what else to do with her! I'm not financially able to send her to a professional! I'm starting to think maybe she is hurting somewhere, and I need to get her checked!! What do yall think? HELP!! |

Location: Kansas | Have a vet check her out. I would stay off her until you get the say so from the vet. She could just need adjusted (mine was rearing on me, once adjusted...hes like a brand new horse). |

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | They usually get an attitude & get a little big for their britches their 4/5 year, and usually good consistent handling and work is the only thing that gets through it. You're better off putting in a 10 minute ride for three days straight than putting in an hour and then not riding for several days. With horses like this, I do a little something with them every day even if it's just a little ground work for 1-2 minutes while they're brought in and out every day. I'll saddle and tie while I'm doing chores. Just anything to keep them thinking about work. Simple ground work goes a long ways.. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Check your tack, as in saddle fit, cinch, pad, how the bit sits in her mouth, have a chiro check her out too. The charging and kicking at you is that she dont respect you, you are the boss and she needs to know that. Sounds like to me you need to have someone come work with you and this horse together, to show you how to handle her, just dont get yourself hurt.

| Get the video "Round penning for respect" or some video similar. I have to have a come to Jesus meeting with one of mine once in awhile. She is at the trainer right now and I betshe is a new horse when I get her back. |
