My gelding will pick thru his strategy slowly eat only about 1/2, (he's been on it for 2 years) he has recently started chasing his pasture mate off who's on safe choice and tries to gobble his up before I chase him off. Pasture buddy was fed safe choice when he was boarded else where so we kept him on that. I have separated him and he still only eats a little and goes to the fence and where the other is eating. And just stands there. Like he wants his food. I don't think he has ulcers, teeth were recently done I have taken all supplements out to be sure it's not something he's not liking there. I have heard of horses doing this. any of your horses who are on a certain feed lost interest in it after a while? Tractor supply is the closes place, they only sell strategy gx and safe choice here other than the dumor brands and the next closest place i refuse to buy there because of bad business. Most of my boarding horses are on safechoice due to owner preference.

Least cost formulated feeds change from one production run to another. You are simply not feeding the same product every purchase, just the same packaging. I see this happening a lot when the manufacturer changes the formulation to match what combination of components can be purchased for the lowest price and still hit the protein, fat and fiber numbers.

I under stand that aspect and that's what I figured what was possibly going on since there are only two horses that get strategy at the barn which is one of my barrel horses and the other is my customers daughters barrel horse(she was on it when they bought her so they kept her on it) and we share the same feed can to save space and she buys two( local feed store)I buy two(from tractor supply) Every 2 weeks. The feed we have In the can now is hers and it's got a different color to the tag.
About to switch every one to sc. And see what happen since doing research I like what sc has vs strategy.
Since they only offer these two in my area and I want a pellet due to the mare is ulcer prone. . I can not get triple crown, bluebonnet ect.:/
