Just like the title says. Have you EVER had a treeless barrel saddle sore a horse and how often do you ride in it and how big are you, small/short tall/lean tall/stout short/stout etc etc etc.

I went to a barrel race yesterday and there were a ton of girls in treeless and I'm very curious!

I had a Bob Marshall and it sored up my longish backed gelding, right over his loins area.

I am 5'11 and weigh 160ish, so pretty tall for a female - but lean. I also ride with a very hunter/jumper type equitation. It was a 15 inch seat on a 15 hand horse, but he had a long back

My mare is in a jbn. She works great in it. Better than ever.My gelding, first time he bucked with a rider, was in a Lisa Lockhart treeless. And now were in a habit of it....not for sure associating it with the saddle. But it was a first...seemed to fit him great.

When did Lisa Lockhart have a treeless, all I have ever seen is the flex tree

No. My sister's horse has just the weirdest back and I couldn't find a tree'd saddle to fit him (actually I'd bet the original Meleta would, but I wasn't familiar w/ those at the time). She got a JBN wide and all the troubles we'd been having were no longer an issue. It was an ok fit on my horse too, I'm just too heavy for a treeless.

Yes, the way they are built it puts all the weight on their withers. Mine was very sore and I am a small rider. 5'4 approx 110 lbs.

I have not personally, but I have a really hard to fit mare, so I was talking to my vet about getting one during a chiro adjustment, and she said that IF you must run in one, you should not use it as an every day riding saddle.

Have a friend that rides a treeless on a more narrow build mare. Rider is only 130 ish pounds, thin, and tall. Sores came up on the horses back along the withers. She is changing saddles!

ETA: I am not saying her saddle is bad, it just did not fit her mare.

No. My mare was sore before I switched to treeless now has no soreness what so ever. I ride in a Tammy Fisher.

It sored mine horribly up in the withers. After several chiropractic sessions and changing saddles he got amazingly better. He first signs were getting extremely cinchy. So then I started thinking back at the couple horses I had ridden in my treeless that also had gotten cinchy after riden in it. I was a little slow to figure it out. Needless to say, I no longer use it. I really enjoyed to ride in it. I'm 5'3 & 125 lbs. I do see that it could be beneficial for a few VERY hard to fit horses.

Oops, geesh. I'm sorry. This is where I insert foot in mouth. You're correct. Apparently I don't pay attention to what I'm typing.

I always thought they would sore one up. Refused to try one. Then I went through a bunch of horses, had saddles that fit nobody, sold them all and bought a Jackie treeless in a fit of rage one day. And I love it. Past muscle atrophy is filling in behind the shoulders and they're stronger through the backs then they've ever been.

I did have a colt get sore through the lower back/loin region after he propped pretty hard and launched me the other day. I came back down and landed hard. That sored him up for a few days but that's the only time I've had one come up sore from the treeless.

That's kind of what i was thinking, that it could sore a horse's wither area or right under were you sit or if you had to over cinch could sore down there

NO, but I use a quality pad that is more then adequate and a sports cincha so that I do not ever have to over tighten a cinch.

i had a vet tell me to avoid flex trees or treeless saddles with horses who have kissing spine. but i may be putting one of mine back in a flex tree. I don't have any treeless saddles.

It took me forever to figure out T-Bo's shoulder stiffness, and eventually pain, was from my saddle. My farrier suggested I try a treeless, I borrowed his wife's and immediately saw a difference. T-Bo made an amazing run that night, still one of our prettiest. I bought a used Bob and ran it for a few years and just moved up to a brand spankin' new Tammy.  T-Bo hasn't been sore through his back at all. I weigh about 160 right now, which is on the high end for me. I'm typically 145-150. I use a Saddleright pad and an Airride cinch.
