 I am moving all of my good saddles into a horse trailer.  It's well sealed but it gets raging hot here in S. Arizona and I'm worried about the leather.  Advice?

Location: KS		I live in Kansas, have kept my tack in my trailer always, all year round. I dont notice it being any kind of a problem, just keep you leather oiled and conditioned (I dont do it enough).

Lexol conditioner slopped all over saddle including anywhere you can reach .... don't forget to pull down on your fender straps and lexol them under your saddle ...
then shine with old cotton tshirt ...

100% pure neats foot oil for anything that gets sweated on ... reins, breast collar;
back cinch, tie down etc ..

You need ventilation in your saddle compartment ... if one of the flimsy aluminum rear compartments ... drill you 50..... 5/8 inch holes along the top edge and 50 holes 6 inches off the floor ... this will circulate the air some to dry out your pads and prevent mold but aluminum is such a good conductor of heat .. it will not cool it off inside the compartment ... drill 1/4 inch holes first and then enlarge with a 5/8 bit ... this is what cordless drills were made for ...

If a forward saddle compartment .. steel or aluminum ... most trailers have been re-enforced for an A/C unit ... cut the hole out to fit a roof vent ... rv places are a good place to find various types of vents and some will install them ...
