I've known some bloodlines to grow slow. I bought a prospect who was suppose to be 15.1, hes 14.3 but still downhill so hoping he gets bigger. Hes 4 but those closely related have grown until as late as 7!

I wouldn't worry too much! My colt was tiny as a yearling.. people thought he was a weanling! Even as a 2-3 year old he was barely 14 hands.. I was scared that he wasn't going to top out over 15 hands.. he is now 4 years old and stands 15.2 and is still growing lol

they grow in stages. my youngest was "stuck" at 15 hands and I thought that was it for him. I was excited to finally see him all "finished" sure enough 7 months later he started growing again at 5 yrs old and shot up to 15.3 in only a few months.

My yearling might be 13hh lol. She is a daughter of Tomahawk N Firewater out of a daughter of Special Effort. Her daddy is supposed to be around 15hh but her momma was short. As long as she hits 14hh, Ill be happy. She is probably 3/4 the size she should be but she looked like a bad rescue case when I got her at 6mos. Long story..... If you ever buy from a certain ranch in BFE in OK..... make sure you get a vet check on an older horse or buy a weanling.... because they don't receive anything but wormer outside of feed. Grrrrrrrrr

I have a 2 year old thats small. He is very well proportioned but I'm dying to get him started but I'm waiting for his knees to close. I'm anxious..........I know his dam and I own a half sister out of dam. The breeder told me he wasn't going to get very tall but he was going to be really wide................
your filly is really cute. I wouldn't worry

The colts that we would raise were really shrimpy until like their three-year-old year so I think you're doing fine. This photo was taken I think when they were not quite yearlings but much more than weanlings...
