Can anyone tell me their experiences with coffin joint injections? Why did you do it and how well did it work?

Yep. My good horse has some arthritis. Works awesome but each time you have to do it they last less and less time. Eventually they won't work. And depending on what you inject
( HA and steroid for me
) then the steroid will eventually destroy the joint. So find a way to prolong injections. I use pentosan and only inject coffins once a year.

We injected the mare I race's coffins and hocks for the first time this year after 4 years of hard competing, and she is running like a new horse. She just has issues in her legs in general, she always has since we got her 6 years ago. We don't think it's genetic because she's built great otherwise and her parents don't have problems, just bad farrier care as a young filly that led to messed up hooves, which messed up her joints/legs. I know certain injections can cause problems long term, but this mare has a retirement party planned for August-ish 2016, so we are just trying to keep her running her best until then. Then she'll have fall/winter 2016 off to relax and be a horse, and then a date with a boyfriend in early 2017.
