Location: Ava, Missouri | Just curious if anyone has ever dealt with this before? I was told by the previous owner that my barrel horse has a bone spur on his coffin bone & needs injections every once in a while. I take him to the vet on Friday, but was wondering if anyone on here had a horse with the same issue. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | My 14 year old gelding came up sore late this spring, took him in and he has the beginning of spurs on the tips of his coffin bones. Vet recommended we change to a softer style pad on him, we had been using a hard performance pad due to low and thin soles on him. Vet wanted a softer more absorbent pad and recommended I put him on something for inflammation. Put him on Neoprofin AVF which is an enzyme that helps with inflammation. I imagine eventually I will have to go to injections but this has helped him at this stage. |

| Yes, My good horse has the same. I have been lucky to see amazing results with Pentosan Gold injections 2x a month. And weekly when really running a lot. THat has allowed me to take my horse off ALL Previcox except the day before and day during a run ( He was previously on it daily for a year). I do have his coffin joint injected once a year.
Another thing, just started him on Curost Total Support and he feels absolutely amazing head to toe, for what the product does for inflammation It may be possible I won't even need the previcox to run or even the annual injections. I am still going to use Pentosan Gold.

Location: Mi | I had a gelding several years ago with a bone spur on his coffin bone. He got injected and also shod with a straight bar shoe and an equithane (sp) pad. I also kept magnetic bell boots on him 24/7. When I rode him or ran him they'd come off and they'd go back on when I was done, he wore them out in the pasture and everything. |

Location: Lost in the swamps | My gelding has a spur on the top of his coffin bone.plus he was super thin soled. So We injected, put wide web shoes, and rolled his toes for a quicker beakover. Plus I done a series of adequan and he's like a new horse! |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | Mine has one in her coffin joint. For a couple years she's had to be injected every 8-9 weeks plus prevocox two days before, day of, and 2 days after a show. We also put wedges on her but not sure wether they helped or not it was suggested so we did it. I changed farriers in May and he started correcting something that I though was already being corrected by previous farrier but me not knowing much about hooves I didn't know. She hasn't been injected since March and has been way more sound than she was before changing farriers and hasn't needed injecting or prevocox. She only got it the day before and day of last time. This past weekend I tried her with no prevocox and it didn't work. But I'm not complaining if she will keep going 5 months without needing injecting I will be happy happy happy. If not we will go back to every 8 weeks. I don't know how bad yours is but mine is bad. When I say she is sound that doesn't mean 100% sound. She will never be 100% sound all the time. My vet said the injections got her to about 70% sound and prevocox done the rest. I asked if I needed to retire her and he said it was up to me but he wouldn't not as long as she's sound with injections and prevocox. He did say within the next 2-3yrs give or take she would have to be nerved or retired. I won't nerve her so she will get an early retirement.
