I didn't want to hijack the thread about sweating horses with my questions about alfalfa hay and excessive sweating. My horse has been on alfalfa cubes/pellets for a year now, but I just recently switched to alfalfa hay. I have noticed both he and my light sorrel mare are sweating profusely, much more than last summer. Could it be that the hay can cause them to sweat but not the cubes? I am hauling them to the vet Monday morning to make sure they don't have any lung issues, as some have pointed out they may have. This just has me puzzled. I have never feed alfalfa hay before. Last summer was MUCH hotter than this summer. This summer we have only had about a month of 99-100 degree heat with high humidity. Last summer it was from the middle of June through September before we cooled off. The horse sweated last summer, but not like they have in the last month.

My horse is sweating more this year then he ever did last year. We are in the Hill Country and I think it is more humid this year then it was last year.

I'm here on the coast so it feels humid to me no matter what. That may be all it is. That is what I hope the vet says anyway.

Mine are handling the Oklahoma heat better than they ever have since starting them on THE products. They sweat yes, but they seem to be handling the heat better as they tend to stay out longer on the pasture than what they have in the past. I still feed them the alfalfa cubes also. Not the alfalfa hay.

When my horse is on THE he stays cooler and doesn't sweat as much as he does without.

One is on THE and the other is on Cur-Ost. Heck, it could be they did this last year, but since I've changed their feed up I could be just paranoid, or more observant this year.

My horse is off the THE right now. I don't keep him on it all the time and I barely turned his stall fan on last year and this year it's been on almost everyday since June.

alfalfa due to Protein will cause them to sweat more and froth up or lather up more so mayhbe more noticable then a clear watery sweat..

While it hasn't been as hot in Texas this year it's definitely more humid.
