Location: NC | Ive been noticing recently after riding my mare that she has some pretty big dry spots. Currently I ride her in a deb sibley with a classic equine pad. Our christmas present to ourselves is a new pad this year. I always get confused whether big spots are ok, or if its small spot..
So my question is would a new saddle pad help or do i need a new saddle? TIA!!

| I think your saddle fits very well! The dry spots look to be the main part of the saddle and equal distribution...... |

Your pictures were too big and that is why the links just posted and not the pictures. Your pictures have to be 99kb and under. Yours were over 200kb. |

Location: North Dakota | I'd be able to tell better if there were pics of the saddle on the horse, because sweat patterns aren't always reliable. Those spots are pretty large and uniform, so it doesn't *look* like the saddle is pinching to me. It could simply be your horse didn't get sweaty enough for her whole back to be uniformly wet. That's what happens with my saddle. The edges of the pad are always where he sweats first, and as we work harder he sweats more under the actual saddle. Just make sure to put the saddle on, without a pad, and feel for even pressure. There will be pressure, but you want it to be flat and uniform rather than spots that pinch your hands a little. Like __ not |. One thing I like to do is cinch my saddle up with the pad how I would normally ride, stick my hand under the front of the saddle so it's under the front of the tree and I can feel their shoulder blade, and have someone lead my horse. If my hand gets squeezed to death or pinched, that's what's happening to your horse's shoulder. If you can comfortably keep your hand in there and feel the shoulder moving freely, then it shouldn't sore your horse (in the shoulder anyway).
