Looking at the top 15 girls making the NFR this year.
Some have 30 some rodeos some have 100 rodeos!
When travelling all those miles, and running at ALL those rodeos, how on earth do they keep these horses some what sound, not tired and running so hard still??

I am sure this is a "taboo" question, but what in fact do SOME of these girls do to keep their horses running on top of their game for so long?
I know there is the drug testing and stuff now, so how do they do it?
I am sure SOME of them are using some sort of "drugs" for lack of a better word.
Does anyone know the secrets? Even around our local rodeo assocations there are some girls going to every rodeo, every weekend in a couple different assocations and their horses are still running.  I obviously don't know enough secrets to run at that calibur with these girls. I feel terrible after running my horse say, even 3 times in a week! Let alone hauling thousands of miles a weekend to hit all these rodeos.
Basically, What do they do to say competitive?

I think some of them have horses in different areas of the country and they have multiple horses. I know Fallon posted a status that she promised Baby Flo she would qualify in less than 50 rodeos and then use the rest of the season to season colts. I know a lot of them have flown their farriers around the country to help them when needed. They get a lot of good care and tons of preventative management stuff.

This is the reason many horses couldnt be rodeo horses, it takes a really gritty animal who loves their job to compete this hard and do well. I know that some have people who assist them with planning on their whole season. What rodeos they go to, what horse works best on what ground, etc.

Most horses that are true rodeo horses know how to handle to traveling, and multiple runs, that's why they do so well going all year long. There is no drug that can make a horse have that ability to go down the road and stay healthy and win. I believe it all comes from the horse's heart. Rodeo horses love to go down the road. When they sit at home turned out, and the trailer leaves without them, you can tell they are sad. Having said that, of course there are multiple supplements are products that help the horses recover, and help them stay healthy, but truthfully I believe they stay going because its what they love to do.

One person that had over 90 rodeos had 4 horses to help her get there.  She had the spread all over this spring and summer.  So that helps a little.

I cant begin to imagine how stressful it would be having multiple rigs going down the road. So many people dream about making the NFR and living on the road but darn it would be a hard lifestyle.

One of the girls had three rigs and a plane.... she bought a horse from a friend of mine to help her make it down the road and talked about her gameplan. It was crazy...but there was no way she wasnt going to make it we thought. She filled her permit at the WPRA finals and went on from there. She had to do it that way (haul so hard) in order to make that many rodeos since she didnt get to get into any of the big winter rodeos and invitaional rodeos. Her horses cost as much as the plane haha...when we heard her plan we knew she was going to have a hectic year...but she was going to make it. She chose wisely which horses she would run at each rodeo and had a one or two planted in different areas with someone keeping them legged up for her. I wish I had a katrillion dollars so I could do that haha...one day. I just need to hit the lottery first!

I'm pooped from going for just two to three weeks at a time. Had a friend that I helped out one summer over Cowboy Christmas he and his partner were catching planes and running three rigs. It was worth it as they began a run of 8 World Championships.
I know several gals using P3/magnapulse and shockwave therapy to keep their horses fresh. When they don't feel fresh the smart girl returns home. If you get kidney issues you may not recover. Adrenal fatigue can not be helped long term by synthetic drugs. It becomes a disaster trying to do so often times.

It would be hard..... But I sure would love to be a driver/hand for someone just to see what it's like.  Lately it seems like I go just to help friends out as much as I actually haul for myself... Why not see the country and the best in the business while you're at it! Lol

Not only the horses but the riders as well! It has to be so physically and emotionally exhausting! Driving at night when you're so tired you can't even think..... over and over all summer long

If you can afford it then go for it.........but don't fool yourself into believing you're making a living.   I'll always root for the underdogs that don't have the unlimited resources and simply outhaul everyone.
