What bit do you always find yourself grabbing to tune on your horse and why? My go to bit is a Dennis Moreland Sliding gag
(twisted snaffle
)-- I bought mine from Ed Wright but can be found on dmtack.com. It fits me and I can ride anything in it. I find that all my horses are softer in it, break at the poll, and just listen better in general. I am always looking to find more bits that fit me!

I like chain mouthpieces and short-shanked snaffle gags.

Twisted Loomis gag. Will really soften one up and bring themselves back to you.

I tend to always go for my tender touch and CJ Ryan. I no longer had my cervi slidegag, I loved that thing.

I have a medium shank Ed Wright with a dog bone and a slow twist for my default.
I really belive that there are so many "favorite" bits because IMO the "best" bit has more to do with each person's hands than the horse's preference or what the "experts" say is best...

I ride chain bits on most everything. However I am really thinking of getting myself a nice gag to try.

I always put off using medium shank for the longest time...I loaned a bridle to a friend years ago, it came back with a medium shanked locked 2 peice smooth Ed snaffle on it rather than the short twisted locked 2 piece, I freaking LOVE it!!! And so does everything I've put it on... It has replaced the Pretzel for the gelding and the little mare and Jr. Cow horse for the big mare as my go to for drilling or backing them off if need be. Heck its pretty much replaced everything.

Dutton O ring smooth 3 piece snaffle. It has a nice weight to it and is not intimidating to most horses. They seem to love the taste and carry it well.

Argentine snaffle. Works awesome on every horse I've ever put it on. It's a simple but but it works well with my hands/riding style.

I'm a bit of a weirdo. I don't love bits. I go back to a bosal with leather split reins or a stop-and-turn hack. They're my training/tuning essentials. I try to get one running in a hack as soon as I can.

Amen sister!!! I am continually switching more horses to my Jim Warner hackamores because that bit fits my hands so well.
I have several favorites to ride in at home - a smooth mouth 3-piece Jr. Cowhorse, a chain mouth Mike Beers and a chain mouth Rosie gag bit.

Ed Wright Pretzel. Fits my hands and my horses' mouth. He hates anything laying across his tongue.
