I used to live in Creede. It is amazing - beautiful and really nice people. The backcountry can get pretty rough, and cell phone reception is not likely outside of town. Does your husband have a hunting guide or do you know whereabouts in Creede he is hunting?

There is a ranch up there that a buddy of his knows. So a group of them from here (West Virginia) are leaving tonight. He is supposed to get me the ranch guys name when they get there. I think he said 8000 acre and 10,000 head of cattle. I only get half the info most of the time!!! He has hunted out there 24 years ago in Pagosa Springs BUT he has aged since then. I think they wil be around 10,000 ft. So I have preached to him about oxygen and walking and breathing.... looking at it thru Google Earth the town looks amazing. They have no guide.

Not sure if I know which ranch that is, not a lot around there with a cattle operation that large. Well good luck to him! My father in law got a beautiful 6 x 6 bull elk outside of Creede this week last year, less than 30 minutes into the first day! Unfortunately my husband didn't get one because the weather got too warm for his season. Hopefully they will get some nice cold weather to bring them down the mountain! There's also some very good places to eat in Creede - Freemons towards Lake City if they are still open for hunting season has he best burgers, and Tommyknockers in town has the best ribs and sandwiches at good prices. Kips grill has good food too, Mexican baja type food but a little more $$.

Thank u so much. I will pass the info on. I hope he enjoys his trip. I will get the real story hopefully when he gets back. It's probably more like 80 acre and 100 head of cow. Lol.

I stayed in South Fork two years ago on vacation and took a day trip into Pagosa Springs and Creede. Creede is the coolest little town! They have a bar/restaurant with all glass on one side so that you can see the mountains and a shuffle board and pool table in the back room. Nicest people you will ever meet! Can't wait to go back.... it's breathtakingly beautiful - oh, and I heard that a lot of latest Lone Ranger flick was filmed there or near there, so if you watch the show you can see the terrain. :)

Yep that bar/restaurant with the upstairs all glass is Kips Grill. Really cool views from up there and great atmosphere. They did all of the train scenes with and most mountain scenic scenes for the Lone Ranger there. Carhartt just did a few new commercials in Creede as well as Dodge having a commercial during the NFR that was all about Creede. Obviously a very neat, picturesque location!
