Bob Marshall Saddle
Location: Buckeye State
I found a Bob Marshall online for $800 and it looks like it is in good condition.
I was wondering about your opinions on treeless vs. treed for running. I personally have always run my horses in treed saddles, but I think I want to try this out. Any reason you wouldn't?
I did some research online but I know more about Billy Cooks than that brand, so I also wanted an opinion to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off. I can send pictures that she sent me if that would help.
Thanks in advance, everyone on here always makes me learn someting new!

Ask for pictures of the underside of the stirrup "leathers". They're actually nylon, but sometimes they will fray and tear. If all of the nylon is solid that's a good price and you shouldn't have trouble selling if you don't like it :
)
As far as running in a treeless, you want to have a high quality pad, I use a Saddleright with mine. I have one gelding that will never wear another treed saddle. He loves his treeless. The other guy, is ok in the treeless but I just prefer to run him in a treed saddle. He is super sensitive and I'm not riding him perfect yet. So he feels me shifting my weight around and reacts. The treed saddle gives me a little more room for error IMO.

Also, find out if it's a genuine Bob Marshall or a Circle Y. The genuine sell higher than the older Circle Ys. I have a new Circle Y treeless and have had a Bob in the past, but don't have experience with the older Circle Ys.

There is a big difference in a Bob Marshal Original, and a Bob Marshal by Circle Y. the CY's are old for one thing but never ever as good as the originals.
I think it is horse and rider specific. We have a mare with very odd withers, the saddle that fits her the best is a Cervi but they start at about $2800 and we just didn't have that much money. We went to a treeless because it was the next best fit.
I would not use one if I were riding, because I'm heavy and think the tree distributes my weight better for the horse, but otherwise, I think it is individual.
