| They look like pretty nice trailers to me. I think there is a bumper pull with LQ on her that looked really nice. The only thing wrong was it was a two horse. |

| They are great if you don't haul a ton of miles. |

Location: Oklahoma | I custom ordered mine in 2013. . it's a 2014. I love it. I need to order a bigger one b/c the Child Gone Wild is hauling more horses now. Lakota is really easy to get in touch with if you need anything done and they have been standing behind their product. |

| I just ordered my third one. I love them, some things needed to be replaced like the tie rings and one divider bar that my horse broke but I have never had any issues with mine that I would even consider issues. My last one had the slide out and it never leaked dust or anything. I love my Lakota and right now wouldn't buy anything but one.
The only thing I would upgrade is the floor/wall matts to a thicker one. |

Location: MO | I just bought a Lakota and love it so far. It seems well made. And they thought of everything. I went from a Bloomer to the Lakota due to the fact I needed more living area and the Lakota slide out did that. The only thing I was not use to is the horse Tie rings on the outside of the trailer. They are bolted on and I have been told they are made to break with enough pressure so they dont hurt the trailer with a pulling back horse.. They are replaceable. Now I look at other trailers and a Lot have those same tie rings also. My Bloomer's were welded on. Since my Lakota is new I can't give an opinion on how they hold up. But I Like the newer made Lakota as opposed to the earlier ones. They seem to have advanced in there horse trailer building thru the years.

Since you mentioned the tie hooks I hate that trailer companies have moved to these. My c&c has the ones that are welded into the frame and theres one that bent a little, but they have never popped of nor bent the frame of the trailer. The whole idea of "so they don't hurt the trailer" makes me wonder about the quality. I really don't want my tie hooks just popping off anytime a horse sets back! |

See I'm on the other side. I want them to break off so the horses don't tear themselves up pulling against something that's not going to give plus I can bolt a new one on myself and don't have to hog-tie my husband into welding a new one on. And not everybody is married to an aluminum fabricator like I am. |

Location: MO | Interesting point of view on both sides of the tie ring issue. My welded tie rings never broke off....bent is all. And no horses hurt. But yes the trailer makers seem to be going to the bolted on type. So I guess I will get use to them and learn how to replace them. LOL |

Location: run2win land | We got our Lakota Bighorn 8316 in April. We have already had a lot a miles on it. The livingquarter area is second to none. the 12 ft slideout adds so much space that we have posted parties at races in it. It has held up to a horse kicking in it. As with any trailer, you need to check if anything loosens up but so far no issues at all like that. We had a couple small things right out of the factory with the slide motor.Lakota immediately sent a replacement motor out. Funny thing is that the issue went away on its own. I could easily live in this trailer and we plan to make alot more big trips. It hauls so well. Very balanced. Pulls super smooth. Due to length, the only thing we got to watch out for is the corners. Highly recommend!!! |

Location: texas | Tie ring issue - invest in a blocker tie ring....
My mare sat back not once but twice and yes, she ripped the tie cleat out of the side of the trailer, and since they are merely bolted into the side wall, no studs, so that sucks.... We haul a portable pen w us now (wink wink)
On another note, we sold our house and actually lived in our first Lakota trailer for 4 months n an rv park, boy did we get some looks lol....
Our horse trailer was nicer than some rvs, it was a custom made trailer for a girl who showed hunter jumpers, it was a beast, 9ft tall and black, and had the 12ft super slide w dinette and couch, we also had a bar w 2 bar stools, loved that trailer it was so badass.... But it was huge 43 ft long and very heavy... |

Location: My perfect world bubble | We seriously considered Lakota and have several friends with them that like them. The only complaint I've heard is from one friend who has a horse that's kicked through 2 sets of mats on the back wall. He is a kicker but they didn't have a problem with him kicking through on their CM. They just rematted again with double mats - will see if it holds.
We ended up with a Platinum because I wanted a 2 horse with a specific configuration and LQ and they were able to offer more customization. Would have no problems with a Lakota from what I've seen.
Another mid-range brand I've been impressed with is Merhow.
Good luck! |
