I have ridden in them as well and LOVE them, there are a few ladies on here that ride in them as barrel saddle and I am sure they will weigh in for ya. I would love to own one, but my bank account doesn't agree with me.

Cutters are not made to "fit" tighter like a barrel saddle. Most people who ride a cutter for cutting, like them a bit bigger so you can roll you hips, lock your arm to push back on the horn, and get the slouch going.

You might need to sit in a few before deciding what size .... it's not a standard type thing.

I agree, my friend is a cutter and rides a 16" and she is tiny. I would say if she was a barrel racer she would ride a 13.5" saddle. LOL...one of the ladies at my work used to ride a Roo Hide and she LOVED it, but she hurt her hip so sold it for something with a narrower twist. If you can get one...get it!!

They'll likely be modifying their cutter tree to more meet the function you need for a barrel saddle.  Mine has a higher rise and cantle, but maintains the close contact feel of a cutter.  It has shorter, barrel racer skirts, and is cut out under the leg.
I was riding a 14.5" Caldwell ProMax and it was just too big.  When I was designing my new saddle based on a cutter we were working off of a 16" Allen Ranch with a Bob Marshall tree.  We decided on a 14" and hoped that shortening the seat that much wouldn't change the whole feel of the tree or the mechanics of where my legs would hang.  The higher rise and cantle with a hard seat creates a nice pocket and secure feel without making you feel trapped.  I like the tall front of a cutting saddle, because I don't ride out over the front of my horses anyway.

I saw a barrel saddle that Calvin Allen made on FB, but I've never seen another one.  I'd like to see what Roo Hide is going to turn out.  I've always liked their cutters.

The RooHide barrel saddles are close contact and free swinging legs. The shoulders move freeeee. Lots of scope for your horse. K&K Livestock up in Calgary has several. Or just talk to John to fit your horse and you. Texas & OK gals he comes during the futurity and has fit barrel horses in the middle of the cutting futurity.

Here you go.  It's completely different than any of the barrel saddles that he's built in the past.  This was the first one on this tree, but he's taking orders and has several in the works now.

Wow, that is a nice saddle. Now I am curious on the Roo Hide Barrel Saddles.
I have seen the cutters at K & K but I already ride around in old cutters since it feels better to me then most barrel saddles.
Thanks for sharing.
