| 2 Kings 18:5-6 Hezekiah trusted in The Lord , the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him. he held fast to The Lord and did not stop following Him; He kept the commands The Lord had given Moses.
Ever have one of those days when you feel extraordinarily unremarkable?
Maybe you woke up, looked in the mirror nd decided it'd take too much work to feel good about yourself, so you crawled back into bed. Or maybe later in the day you couldn't find your groove in a meeting, barrel run and you felt your colleagues looking at you quizzically , as if they too knew you weren't all there.
We've all been there. It's human nature to want to feel special, one of a kind, irreplaceable. Unfortunately , it's also human nature to doubt all that.
I love what 2 Kings says about King Hezekiah. Among the Old Testament list of kings and their failures and accomplishments , a good one stand out. Hezekiah was one in such standout. In fact, " there was no one like him among the kings of Judah"
In wondering what qualities made him excel, it's amazing to note what's said of him before and after that statement. " Hezekiah trusted in The Lord" and " he held fast to The Lord and did not stop following him; he kept the commands The Lord had given Moses".
Hezekiah was a one of a kind because he walked closely with God. As in our modern society, living by the Lord's ways was rare in Hezekiah's time.
Jesus also stood out on the earth, but not because of any outward features.. see Isaiah 53:2). The pure, holy, loving character of His Heavenly Father shined through Him and brightened the world wherever He went.
Godliness is a beautifier and the measure of success that counts. How freeing to know that Jeaus makes standouts of us when we follow Him.
How is simple, pure faith remarkable to you? Live a remarkable day by focusing on Jesus' priorities for you, namely living and loving like He does.
For it is WITH God all things are possible
