| If you do a search on the forum there has been a lot of talk
Mostly it is preference
However one thing I was just told if you want to see which one absorbs shock more you drop a bowling ball on it and see if it bounces.
I was told 5 start it bounces, csi it doesn't.
I still have more questions then answers, as I would like to see someone measure the psi on the underneath when the bowling ball is dropped |

Makes me wonder though.
How often do you have a similar "force" of a bowling ball dropping on ONE small concentrated spot on your horse?
Not really. So I'm not sure how this test can relate to any saddle pad; not just the ones in question. I'd like to see something "real life" that might actuallly happen and how it relates.
OP, my personal preference between the two is 5 Star. |

| I have had both. I sold the CSI-wish I'd kept it now. The way the CSI was cut seemed to make it have a little more lift in the front. I like them both. |

The bowling ball is supposed to show how the pad absorbs shock.
And there are instances I know that I have excerpted that much pressure in one spot, ie when my horse jumps from underneath me, when they get front endy and bounce me out of my seat. How bout all the star fishing?
As I said, I would like to see more measurements of psi on the bottom side, as the energy needs to go somewhere.
Csi does have a pressure test where they have pieces of most of the popular saddle pads except wade and saddleright. I know when I did the test, impact gel and 5 star were similar, I could push around 3 times as hard (all measured by a pressure sensor measured in psi) with a csi, also the pressure was dispersed throughout the entire product. Whereas with the 5 star and impact gel, the pressure was localized |
