I have Direct TV, have a pretty basic package and had to upgrade to get the Breeders' Cup races. It is the same channel as the NFR (221) so will keep it until after the NFR and then cancel it. They have a lot of car racing on that channel so is a dud for me other than NFR and horse race.

Upgraded Direct TV today for a month and it's $7.00, then I will have to cancel. They said I'll have 48 extra channels during that time including Fox, Oxygen, 602 horse racing.

That's crazy! I called yesterday and they said it would cost $20 for the month but they would credit me back the weeks I didn't have it if I cancelled within the month.

ridejg - 2015-12-01 10:01 AM NFR is on channel 158, Dish network......also RFD-TV channel 231 on Dish, has great NFR coverage during the day, with special shows, interviews, buckle ceremonies, etc.

I called Dish today and I thought the guy said 159 and thats what I wrote down. Not sure if we are going to upgrade though since it comes on in the middle of the night here in the east. I don't have a way to record it either.

Sure hope someone posts the barrel runs on youtube again this year.

They told me $30 because I have the lowest package possible. Then said they will credit me the days I didn't use after I cancel.

Well I didn't have the channel and thanks to all the helpful hints, I got my package upgraded to include this channel for $7/month.  But like snother poster said, I can drop it at anytime and go back to my old package.  I was worried it would be a lot extra a month and then I would be stuck with it.  This would be why my avatar says Livin in the dinosaur age

From time to time they also show rodeos and horse events like dressage and jumping.

punkypower - 2015-12-01 6:10 AM Thanks.  I hope we got that channel in our package.  I always thought it was on ESPN, so we made sure we got those channels.  Will have my fingers crossed until I get home tonight.
We have just the basic direct tv package and upgrade it every December so we can watch it. Last year they gave us the upgrade free for the month.
Am I losing my mind or has it been on ESPN in the past?

Yep, used to be and then it moved to GAC for like two years and then to CBS Sports like last year or the year before.

You're not crazy!
