The ground would be so much better and they don't take long at all to run 15 girls. That's a great idea! Seems like every time there's a bad stumble or fall, it's in the same spot.
I don't understand why they can't at least hand rake quickly after each barrel racer. I know plenty of rodeos that do it for over a hundred barrel racing contestants, and the NFR can't handle 15?
Or "pause" to quickly drag after 8 runners, to get that ground good again.
Theres just so many simple things they COULD do to help, but they don't.
Even 2 of the bulls slipped pretty good last night in round 9. I honestly believe that's why the bull with the 100% buck off rate, didn't buck off his rider. He had a pretty good slip on his front end that kinda stopped his momentum and actually helped the bull rider.

Personally I don't like a hand rake. I think it just pulls loose dirt over the holes and it can even make it worse. |

I dont care for the rakes either, all it does is pull loose dirt over the holes, I want to see it packed. They were useing hand rakes a few years back but I guess they gave up on them. I remember after a few runs some men would run out to each barrel and rake around them. |

Hmm seems to me that the rodeos that win rodeo of the year, voted by the barrel racers, are the ones that hand rake after each runner. My hometown rodeo won one year and the year after, I believe that one they hand raked too (although I can't recall which rodeo it was).

She says it's cosmetic only. They just cover the ruts instead of filling them in. Her mare handles trashy ground well but not when they hand rake. |

They said the horse belonged to Callie's family when Callie was getting ready to make her victory lap. I thought they called him Arson while she was running. |

| I'm so sad it is over. I wish rodeo was on every day. It was so great hearing the crowd cheer during each run especially in round 10. Thanks to all of the contestants for making the last 10 days so fun! |

Well then the NFR can have a tractor in the corner (like every other major barrel race) and quickly dig before and after every 5 runners. That's only 3 times they'd have to do it, and would still take less time than any of the other events.
They just have to do something. Things can't continue the way they have been.
I just saw this on FB and I love it. https://www.facebook.com/875823125820679/videos/898566976879627/?theater |
