I've had many horses with ulcers get injected with no ill side effects...no one dropped or went off their feed or became dull. Not Once.

In fact, I think it was helpful to their recovery from ulcers as they no longer had the stress from pain adding to their tummy troubles.

Burninbarrels9456 - 2015-12-20 10:37 PM Equithrive is what he is going to stay on from here on out... I'm done explaining his history over and over here.. All I was asking is if there was such thing as an alternative to joint injection. This post is beginning to be WAY too much for me... He doesn't have PSSM or Cushings, my vet is not a holistic vet. My vet didn't prescribe for him to be on Gastroguard from here to eternity.. Just 28 days.. Then he goes on a supplement called U-guard, to prevent ulcers.. Not to be confused with Ulcerguard.. 2 totally different things. His feed is only 15.00 a bag.. Don't need other supplements because it's already in the feed in which I might add is for horses with ulcers, PSSM and other issues. Look it up.. Tribute Feeds Kalm and EZ.. My friends horse was also injected with steroids and hit the ground... You all are asking me to explain why my vet and her vet... 2 different states are saying this about injecting steroids.. I don't know.. I'm not a vet. My vet is a performance horse vet and she is one of the Top vets in our area.. You know.. I went back and forth with even asking anything on this board because it never fails everybody wants to give the same generic negative responses and try to diagnose ones horse through a computer screen! Doesn't work people! I will NEVER come to this board again and ask for any advice! Peace out!

People can be very forward and opinionated here. ;-) Trust me, we have all had our fair share of it. Let's see......I have been told from one picture that one of my horses would be a terrible stud prospect and had horrible conformation. That holistic remedies for EPM really don't work, that if I sent my horse to a trainer and got it back I would fall off and wouldn't be able to ride it, that one of my horses was skinny, AND I am anti-slaughter so I have been told a time or two that I am uneducated because of having that opinion.

This is where I have learned that people in the horse world in general LOVE to share their knowledge. Sometimes almost too much. This is where you get to pick and choose what works for you. ;-) I have learned to simply just be a listener. The knowledge I have gained from that has been huge. You don't have to post, in fact I don't post much these days (again I aim to be more of a listener) but, you can get SO MUCH knowledge from some of these posts, and some of them you can at least get a good chuckle.
At the end of the day pick and choose what works for you, there "is more than one way to skin a cat."

I have kind of learned who is an expert on here I'm certain things. Sometimes I will just PM them and not even start a regular thread. If I have a feed question I know who to go to. If I have a vet type I have someone for that to. Lol

I dont get why ppl get ticked off when ppl ask questions...they are just trying to clairfy the info given.....and then get even more ticked off when the answers given dont jive with their own.....my theory is if you cant handle the answer to a question. .dont ask.......m

Yep I'm sure she was expecting a whole bunch of alternatives to injections but none of what the vets told her made sense. She is probably frustrated.
