I had someone give me Chafhaye to try for this reason. It smells like silage. Has anyone ever fed this?

Better watch this as it molds quickly probably because of its high moisture content.

Will do, thanks. So the fact that it smells like silage is normal? I'm not sure if my horses will eat it. Right now the bag is freezing solid in the barn.

Purina Hydration Hay. We rescued a mini that was missing 4 teeth and could eat. We fed her the Hydration hay and a pelleted feed soaked together and made it pretty soupy for her. She lived another 2 years happily. She was 25 plus years when we got her

My senior guy who is 31 hasn't been able to eat hay for years. He eat purina senior twice a day and grazes some. Most grass or any hay for that matter wads up. This summer was hard on him so the vet suggested adding rice bran as it has a lot of calories and I t has worked miracles. I feed him half a scoop morning and night in addition to his normal food and he has put on 200lbs! He loves it. Just a thought for you incase he starts losing weight

My old man was 32 and had 5 teeth total left in his mouth when I finally had to put him down this summer. He got Safe Choice Senior and alfalfa pellets soaked for about half an hour so it was mush. If you have access to one-and-only and the senior horse is separated from others it is made to be fed as free choice you can wet it and it turns to mush so they can lip it up and digest it easy.
