Location: Alabama | Since I've been going to sooooo many shows where my
Horses stalls are concrete or asphalt I've been collecting and buying the foam puzzle piece mats to put down under their shaving to help, I have decided I may be better to buy soft rides or the cloud boots instead of enough mats for 3 horse stalls, not to mention easier to haul and could use them more.... What have y'all have better results with? Or maybe I should do both? |

This ^^^^ my horses would always lay down, so I would add more shavings to make it more compy for them. |

Location: The Great Northwest | If you go mats with with a lot of shavings, mats will help from being slick for them to get up after laying down. The soft rides might work as long as they don't fill with shavings and cause pressure. |

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | Some places won't let you bring in bedding, but I've used the puzzle mats & the pelleted bedding instead of shavings on blacktop and it's worked great every time. The pellets pack down really good and stay in place, and Tractor supply carries them so they're easy to find. |

Location: In my own world | When I went to OKC I did both. I had matts put in and I have soft rides. Even if the mats would have been enough there is a lot of concrete around. I put the soft rides on if I was hand walking or going to the trailer so she would slip |

Location: sunny california | These mats are great. an investment but they last. are light weight yet durable. I put pellets on them where they pee and shavings on top of that. I have not had any stocking up even without wrapping the legs

Seems like a lot but they last a long time if they fit correctly and are taken care of. I still have and use the first set I ever bought which was in 2009..... so over the course of time it's not that big of an investment. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I tried the puzzle piece mats last summer at Lincoln. I don't know if I didn't use enough shavings on top of them or what but they were ripped up and scattered throughout the stall by that night. My Soft Rides work better and well worth the price. I think I bought mine in 09'ish. |

Exactly. Mine are worth every penny for my sore footed mare. She hauls and stalls in them.
Everyone gets too many shavings so they can lay down and be comfy and dry. |

I tried the mats too, also at Lincoln a couple years ago and the same thing happened. So it wasn't just you. I've just gone back to using the Soft Rides. I can usually get by with at least one less bag of shavings per stall by using them. @ $7-8 per bag at some of the facilities that require you to purchase their shavings, that adds up too. |

Noooo.. Soft Rides are more than that.. lol. But I wouldn't trade mine for anything. (My horses love them too) I use them ALL THE TIME. Hauling long distances, standing at a race all day on concrete, concrete stalls (also with a TON of shavings). Just remember if you use Soft Rides, it's important to take them off daily and clean them out. Definitely a GREAT investment.. worth every penny. |

| I have the puzzle piece mats. They are relatively inexpensive and I've had them a few years and used mine a bunch and they are still holding up well.
ETA: I do have a pair of soft rides for my retired gelding who previously foundered (over 5 years ago). I put them on him if we transport him anywhere just to be safe. I do think they are great but probably are not a necessity if your horse doesn't have foot problems. However if you have the money for them they are nice

I think part of the problem is the concrete is so slick the mats just slid around. I'll buy lots of shavings and my Soft Rides. |
