Location: Kentucky | Last Wednesday I had the opportunity to visit Ashford Stud, where American Pharoah will be begin his stud career in about a month. The farm is 2,000 acres in Versailles, KY, about 40 minutes from my house. Gorgeous and the horses were amazing!
AP was just as charming as you would think. He is a sweetheart and stands for pictures with ears relaxed. Nothing seems to bother him. He's a true gentleman. The stallion caretaker said he's gained about 125 pounds since he arrived on November 1st, and will begin standing on Feb 14th - Valentine's Day - at $200,000.
Thunder Gulch on the other hand.... at 23 years old, he is still a firecracker! Pinning ears and stomping feet - he was a grouchy thing, but still gorgeous! He seemed a bit smaller than the rest of the stallions. He was kind of cute!
Here are some pics I was able to get:
One of the three stallion barns. Each barn had 6 stalls:

Uncle Mo:

Fusaichi Pegasus:

Empty stall previously lived in by Scat Daddy (passed recently) and Cigar.

Thunder Gulch:

Giant's Causeway:

I think they said AP is 16.1 hands. |

I think because he's still trim and hasn't filled out yet. The other studs looks HUGE compared to him, but they were a bit chunkier :) |
