| Great title eh?
Recently I have fallen in love with an expensive saddle.
Now affording this saddle is not the problem. My biggest concern is that it is ~extravagent~.
I do not need another saddle and the ones I own fit/work just fine.
So how do you justify something like this to yourself?
I know I am not the only one in love with fancy shiny things around here!
Do you bite the bullet and say, "I DESERVE THIS BECAUSE I ROCK!"
Or set up some personal goals to reach before spending?
Develop a timeline... like, I will not buy this thing if I dont still love it 3 months from now?
What do you do?
Help me I do not know how to adult very well.

Location: lost in missouri | I am doing this right now with something not near as expensive as a saddle. I am a month and a half into my 3 month wait period. I have a distinct feeling I will be ordering it come March 1st. I am very proud of myself that I have been an adult about it this long. I am spoiled rotten. |

| If you are financially secure, I say go for it. If you feel like you need to DO something to make yourself believe you deserve it, then set up a small goal to achieve. Lose 5lbs in a month, beat my personal fast time at _____ arena by 2 tenths.....etc and etc.
With it being winter right now, I am finding it TOO easy to splurge on myself. With there being a lack of races to go to, there is extra money in the checkbook that is all too tempting. |

Location: East Texas | If money is no object and if you end up and buy the expensive saddle, why don't you pass a blessing along by giving one of your other saddles to a well-deserving someone. I can guarantee you that you will get more of a warm, fuzzy feeling from blessing someone than you will from your new saddle! |

Location: CTX | a good friend of mine had a great idea, she started putting all the money they won at races in an envelope. So at the end of the season she had a nice amount to get stuff she wanted. i been doing it for a couple of years now and we have enough to buy a very nice saddle. Will be ordering a new saddle soon... And am not feeling guilty because I already have the cash in hand. |

This is my main problem. Plus if I ordered now the saddle would be available by the time spring races start?!
I just feel like 30 years from now I may end up on some TLC special... "I spent all my money on things that were not necessary". |

I really like this idea!
Plus I was keeping track of our winnings this year anyways so I feel more justified doing this. |

You need to have a savings for the future but you also need to enjoy the present. There are some things I'm sorry I didn't do and spend money on worrying about that what if scenario. Now there are things I can't do so I wish I had spent more on things that I wanted and things I wanted to do but didn't.

I want to know how you got all your dogs to sit for the picture??...LOL
Back on topic....I agree with this, buy quality and it will hold it's value. Nothing is getting cheaper.

Location: Southern Indiana | If you fall in love with an item and you know you'll use it, love it, and will be happy for years then buy it! The main thing is spend the money on what you really want that's going to last for years! Justify it by not buying the "little" things your temped to pick up for a couple months. That's what I did when I bought my new saddle last year. If you don't buy it, you'll always think about it and be sad you didn't. |
