Is is acceptable to breed a blue eyed female to a male who has one 1 blue eye? It would NOT be a merle on merle breeding. The female is a blue merle but the male is a black tri. I just do not want the chance of causing vision issues in the puppies if it is problem.

It poses no problem what so ever and actually if you get blue eyed tri's ( if they are registered) they are worth alot more $$$.

I used to breed aussies and have never heard of that being an issue, just the merle on merle.  I agree to get a blue eyed tri.  Awesome.

I have a blue eyed black tri. His mom has a blue and a brown eye and the sire was a blue eyed black. None of her puppies have had eye trouble. My sister has repeat customers and a lot of referrals. I would think if there were eye problems her customers would let her know.

I dorm know much about ausie brewing but my close friend has a VERY VEEERRRY special ausie! The dog is def and has doggie mental problems lol cutest thing and trained with a vibrating collar sense he can't hear! But it's not fair. He is handicapped and just got lucky with the perfect owner! This all happen from breeding for "cute colored" puppies! 1/3 of the litter where the same.

Something to consider or check is breeding pair family tree (color).  Not sure if  the lethal white issue is from immediate pairing only or can go back to genetics of past line. Hope that made sense.  If that is a possible issue think about how you would handle any lethal white pups as there are many in rescues.  I'm also not a fan of breeding anything without credentials (working, agility, obedience ect.)  Good luck in your puppy raising.  Babies are always cute.

There should be some type of genetic testing you can get on both parents. I'm not into aussies, but I know almost every other breed (the ones that are known for genetic problems) have tests you can request.

Some people say yes, because they think a blue eye comes from a merle gene. But some say no issue what so ever. I plan on breeding my Blue Merle female to a BET this year.

NEVER breed a merle to a merle! That is how you get the blindness and deafness. I just cannot stress this enough.

Yes this. I've heard some people say "it's ok because one is a red merle and other is blue..." just DON'T EVER!!

You will be totally safe with this pair. The eye gene and the merle gene are totally separate. You only risk the "lethal white" if you breed merle to merle (doesn't matter red or blue). Although the blue eyes are "neat" to many, they are actually considered a recessive genetic defect in the aussie world. Just take this into consideration if you are looking to breed in the registered "aussie world". www.asa.org has a lot of good info on genetics

The long of the short of it is; NO I would not suggest this UNLESS you test the dog with one blue to make sure it does not poses the merle gene.

It is possible for a dog to poses the merle gene and have it only visible in the eye. It is better safe than sorry.
