I'm leasing a horse out to a little girl to junior rodeo on. It'll be 4-5 months. What do I charge? I haven't a clue. I've done 30day trial periods but never a lease. Of course insurance and contract.

I don't know what to tell you is right. I tried asking a friend about it as I'd like to find a horse to run just for this year, starting this spring/summer and go through fall, and told me about all the red tape, it scared me away. But the way she did it, it didn't sound cheap.

We've offered onsite leases before... They can haul to shows but at the end of the day the horse comes back home. We've charged anywhere from $200-$350/month depending on the horse and what all is included.

Thanks you're giving me a place to start. They will take him back to Nebraska with them during the season but bring him back in the off season. All maintence is done by them, insurance will be covered by me and added into the price(to make sure it gets paid).

I would consider what the horses' record is- Winning constantly? Any holes? ect then price from there. A horse that can win at the rodeos would be worth more then one that isn't consistent

I was looking into the same kinda deal for one of our horses, but we haven't found the right match to get serious about it. Cost-wise, I found 25-30% of the horses value for the full year was typical. So, a $10,000 horse would be $200 to 250/month to lease.

I've done leases anywhere from 250 (3 days a week) to $750 (full lease) per month
