 A Gopher's Worst Nightmare
Posts: 5094
Location: Southern Oregon | This is my first competitive and outside my comfort zone race in almost four years. I lost two of my good mares and my passion, then had a strange string of events that lead to my mare prospect sitting on the back burner. This last year and half I have spent drilling this poor girl and it is past due time to enter. I know it is only a novice class, but **** I am nervous. ugh! |

You'll do fine! Just go and enjoy being on your horse. There's no pressure to win it, just enjoy the fact that you're going again.

Location: Georgia | I made my first run in 7 years about 2 weeks ago. I was so nervous I bet I peed 100 times that day before my run. Ended up falling at the first barrel and just loped through the next drag, but the fire is still within me! My next race is the No Bull Barrel Race in Perry, GA and I can't wait!!! Good luck to you! |

| Please let us know how it went. I haven't competed in almost 4 years and I am starting to get the itch so bad. I start back riding my mare and life circumstances(2 year old daughter and a husband that works out of state) keep setting me back. Hoping your story and will convince me to say to hell with life circumstances and ride anyway.lol |

Chandler's Mom - 2016-01-17 8:07 PM Southtxponygirl - 2016-01-17 1:06 PM Β Hello are you out thereΒ Maybe she had so much fun she's still running!! I wouldn't blame her!! Hope she is still having fun!! Β
This made me think of yesterday when we were at a run in LA. Chandler's gf was unsaddling her horse when a lady walked by leading her horse to the trailer. Someone asked how her run went and she turned to answer----she looked to be in her 70s---and said "it was clean and we both came out safe, so that makes it a good run." It made me so happy to know that some folks look at life that way; she'll never know it, but she inspired me so much with that comment and her huge grin. That young lady was having fun!! |

Location: Southern Oregon | Sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone! My kids all decided to get sick, so we have been down and out and running to doctors appointments.
It went relatively well. It was her first time on the clock, I happened to loose my stirrup coming out of the first( I NEVER loose my stirrups!) She still clocked 4th in the 4D. She just didn't feel right that day, real blah for her. I have a spa day with the chiro, acupuncture and message therapist scheduled soon. I was almost thinking she was coming down with a cold of something. Usually she is a fire breathing dragon and ready to go, she was real dull. Still a clean run and any mistakes made were on my part not her's! All in all a good first outing! |

Location: Bastrop, TX | I am in the same boat. Only difference is I raised my colt sent him to a trainer to be broke and started on barrels. He was doing so good with her on exhibitions that she thought he would do good at the juvenile futurity this past Dec. He did do good there. Then I brought him home Jan first and have only gotten to ride him once at home. So in order for me to relearn to ride since I too have not competed in 4 yrs I am going to the Josey Easter clinic. I am already nervous thinking about it. |

Is your mare possibly anemic? |
