| I recently graduated from nursing school and as a present to myself I want to FINALLY go watch the NFR. Questions for people who have went. When and where do you buy tickets? Any hotel suggestions? Any advice in general. I'm starting to save now!!! I'm excited!

Location: Wearing a winter coat...... | I have to say New York New York is my favorite hotel. We have been twice and plan on heading back this year as well. The area NYE NYE is in- fits us best. Super good deal and fun place to be. Right across from MGM but I can hide from the crowds if I want. Not much help on the tickets because I have never went to the rodeo as there is so many viewing parties- I save my money for the shopping! |

| Stub Hub. Spent a FoRTUNE to sit low. Was worth it! :) We bought in Sept/Oct. Stayed at MGM. Was great. Cowboy Christmas at the Covention Center is beyond overwhelming so get the map and plan to spend the day and then another day. Sensory OVERLOAD until you get your bearings. |

Location: Texas | We stay at South Point every year and love it. It's not on the strip and so I recommend renting a car if you stay there, if not you'll spend a ton in taxis. We love renting a car anyway, you can just self park in the garages at the hotels or valet, I feel like we save a ton of time and money by doing that. If you don't get tickets, South Point has the Ram Room upstairs that is awesome to watch it in. They have two huge theatre style screens, comfortable chairs/tables, food and drinks you can buy. It's the best place to watch in my opinion if you don't have lower level tickets. Also the Gold Buckle Ceremony is there after the rodeo each night, they usually have bands in there too. I have stayed a Bally's before and it was nice because it was across from Bellagio and centrally located. It had a few good restraurants in it and it's connected to Paris. I like the restraurants in New York New York. Definitely go to the shopping places. My favorites are Mandalay and Sands. |

Location: Nevada | Hubby and I went this year as a last minute vacation. We stayed at the Gold Coast. It was nice but we were away from everything. Next time we will stay on the strip. Bought tickets from stub hub 20 minutes before the rodeo on championship night. There is a stub hub center right off the strip so very easy to get the tickets after we bought them on line. Yes they were up high but really there is not a bad seat in the place. We used Uber instead of renting a car and we found to have pleasant experience with all the drivers and so easy with the app also much cheaper then taxis, they are so expensive 2 to 3 times more then uber. |

Location: Southern IL somewhere between KY and MO | in 2013 I was out there as a Travel Nurse and it was amazing to be there the whole time. I had my own car as i had driven out. My Favorite places to view the rodeo was at the Mirage and South Point. I recommend renting a car, as Vegas is larger then it looks. Also check out Boot City for great deals, and go to the LV convention center for shopping there are other shopping places too southpoint has on Mandlay Bay had one LV convention and there was another place but I forgot the name it cost to park there. Good Luck and have a blast I will be back in a few years. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Our daughter and I go out every year as our mother/daughter deal. Everyone's likes are different. I don't like crowds and I don't like being in the hustle bustle so South Point works for us. I feel safe and at home there. We tried a few other places and hated them so only stayed one night and would end up at South Point. It's hard to get a room there because of the team roping so I always get reservations right away.
We rent a car. |

| I personally like to be in the mix of everything. My husband and I have been the past few years. It is the best vacation to me! We've stayed at Caesar's Palace, Bellagio, MGM and Ballys. Caesars and Bellagio were great but don't have much of the rodeo atmosphere. Ballys was great for a cheaper stay & great location, but it also doesn't have the rodeo crowd. MGM was perfect for going to the after parties, shopping, etc.
To save money I would suggest staying at one of the hotels that is a monorail stop (MGM, Harrahs, Ballys, Paris, & a few others). The monorail is only a few dollars a day & ride unlimited for 24 hours. It takes you from Vegas Convention Center (Cowboy Christmas), to the Sands, to MGM with hotel stops in between. Also, check NRS experience for free shuttle rides to & from the Thomas & Mack. This past year we discovered a free shuttle to & from the Vegas Convention Center & South Point. We are obviously big fans of the shuttles. The cost of taxis adds up quick!
I've bought tickets from Western States Tickets & stub hub.. you just have to search everywhere for the best deal. The Mirage has the best viewing party if you don't buy tickets one night. Mgm has a great one too you just have to reserve a seat early in the day to be able to get in. |

I third the Uber/Lyft suggestion. My friend and I went out Sunday-Sunday last year and spent next to nothing on transportation.... I got a $50 credit for signing up and then when I referred my friend she got an additional $30. We did a lot of walking, but we wanted to save money.
We also had weeklong Monorail passes.
Check with people who know face value ticket prices before you buy tickets.... you can find plenty on Craigslist, Stub Hub, etc. but you might pay a lot more than face value. Go to the rodeo at least once... but it's just as fun at a viewing party. MGM does a good viewing party and the Mirage does one as well.... or you can catch it on TV at just about any casino/eating place if you don't mind not knowing the real time results.
I think it's good to plan for a solid day at each trade show if you've never been before. A lot of the places will be the same booths in different buildings, but some of them only have one booth and you don't want to miss it... so get booth numbers and a map before you start shopping.
The MGM really caters to the rodeo crowd and it has nice rooms and has plenty of goof food options, but it does feel a little bit out of the way.... but I'm not exactly sure where I would look into staying otherwise! |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | In a few months some of the casinos will be offering a hotel/ticket packages. We did it one year for the New Orleans. I think all of the Boyd Casinos offer a package deal. We were in the nose bleed section. |

| Tickets haven't been offered to season ticket holders yet, so I can't see you finding any yet.
As from what I heard there may be 600 more people loosing their seats this year due to renovations.
I believe our renewal comes in March, and I think by June we know what are seats are |

Location: Las Vegas | I live here in Vegas (for 30 years), my favorite hotel is the South Point. The go round awards each night is there. A lot of the contestants are there. There is a great free viewing party there. The world series of team roping is there. South Point is more of a rodeo hotel (as it is owned by cutting horse owners). It really just depends on what you like. Visit a few of their websites and look at the pictures.
Also just an FYI to everyone coming to NFR this year. Vegas is building a new arena for hockey, PBR, concerts and other things. It will be near the MGM. MGM Resorts has just announced that all MGM properties starting in April will be charging for self parking as well as almost $20 to valet. You can google which hotels are MGM properties and which are Ceasers Properties. And it wont matter if you are a hotel guest or not. I know that wont matter to a lot of people but its nice to know ahead of time. |
