Anyone delt with this? radiographes are clean vet thinks make have snagged joint capsule thinks out look is good but it will be ugly looking a while. Previcox and cold hosing. Says remote chance of developing ring bone but not to worry to much... well now I'm worried..... who else has healed a baby with a sprain. It's still pretty warm and swollen. He is hanging out in the roundpen till it's resolved was 3/4 lame first and second day now it's maybe a 1 if you look super close. And it's been about 4 days

I would use banamine rather then Previcoxx, as banamine works better on soft tissue injuries.

Also I would be icing it.

If the joint capsule is damaged, it all depends on how fast you can get rid of the swelling. I would be using a clay poultice, sweating it, and using a game ready to get the swelling out.

I would also be speaking to my vet about injecting palasine into the joint ( not sure if you can get this in the USA, my vet has a special import permit only one place makes it in the UK). Palasine is a potent anti inflammatory used it on my mare who tore her joint capsule, swelling was gone in 6 hours, 3 yrs later X-rays are clean. It doesn't damage the joint like steroids do.

The longer the swelling exists, the more long term effects you are going to have with the leg.

Also did you do an ultrasound? If not I would go back and rule out any tendon or ligament damage.
