What supplements do you give your horses to give them a little more fire before a race without making them cracked out?
A friend of mine will give her horse Red Cell the day before and day of a race to get him to run harder. . . Opinions on that?

I've fed rec cell but honestly it didn't do very much for mine that i could tell... maybe a little pep in their step when i first got on but that was about it.
I tried UltraFire by Finish line and really like it!

If you want your horse to fire like Lisa Lockhart's then get Platinum Performance. that is what she uses. It will put some gas in their tank.

What is your horse currently being FED?
Pasture?
Hay? What type?
Grain? How much?
Etc.

I think sometimes that "fire" comes from overall nutrition.

I was looking for the same thing for my horse Red last year. I normally fed him very little grain because he is an easy keeper and on pasture 24/7. I wasn't in a position to change his pasture in my boarding situation, but I could change his grain. I had only been giving him 1/2 pound to mix with his T.H.E. supplement. I increased it slowly to about 2 pounds, and even that small amount increase I noticed he had way more fire in his runs and clocking better.

She gets 1/2 scoop of 14% protein pellet with 1/2 scoop of whole oats twice daily.  She is turned out 24/7 and has free choice quality hay in the winter.

She doesn't need any more umph when we are working at home, and I don't want her to lose her level head.  I'm mostly searching for something that I can give her before a race to give her that little extra boost.

I use Oxygen products. Oxy-max on my 6 y/o and SIlver on my 21 y/o mare. I have definitely seen a huge difference in my older mare using the SIlver. If its a smaller show i will also just give her the Oxy-max. I also use their Joint supplement and the one for moody mares. I love all their products.

DMG seems to give a horse a bit more "UMPH"
