For a 19/20 year old horse with 1d record. What could one expect to pay?Does require some maintenance...

When I was in jr rodeo along time ago we paid $2500 for a 21 year old that could run with the best of them.  We got a heck of a deal and were offered $10,000 not long after we bought him.  He died on our place at the age of 35.

I think you could be looking anywhere $5,000-$15,000

I think this totally depends on the buyer.  Some people wouldn't blink to spend 10K on those credentials.  Others wouldn't pay 2000 because they think 19/20 is OLD.   Depends on the horse, what maintenance is needed, what has been done, and how hard they've been run during those 20 years.
Reasonable for me, with a good solid 1D record (within a few months old) would be around 10K, give or take a little depending on maintenance.
2-3K would be low for Lots of maintenance and gate issues (or other issues
18K would be high end for something with BIG wins within the last few months - NBHA supershows, PRCA Rodeos etc.
All opinion!  LOL  Take what you will.

I think it all depends on how quickly you want him to sell.

You narrow your market down significantly when you add a larger price tag. The horse is too old to insure (for most companies) so the buyer is assuming all the risk.

Around here $5000-8000 would be tops for something his age.

I tend to agree with this. There is a 21 year old gelding now in our area who has been a 1D horse for years, tons and tons of wins. Hes only gotten faster as he's gotten older and I feel like the girl basically has to give him away which is unfortunate. He is listed at $5,000.

I would think 4500.00 to 6500.00 without seeing the horse and not knowing it.
And the being 1D would depend on who hes ran against and how many to fall in the 1D.

I totally agree. A horse that can compete at the national level & WIN, a lot of people wouldn't mind spending 18k just to get the experience, imo anyways..
