Hard seat feels bigger?

I read somewhere on here that when your riding in a padded seat your size can feel smaller and with a harder seat it can feel larger. How true is that statement? I can kinda see it and understand it though. I'm wanted a hard seat with my next saddle but now I'm wondering if I should order a half size smaller...

There is no padding in the seat. I ordered mine a half size smaller than what I usually would ride and it is perfect!

The padding takes up extra space. The seat size is measured to the stitching not to the beginning of the padding so if you have a 1/4"-1/2" padding on your seat it will feel tighter than a saddle without padding.

Hard seats dont have the padding so it will run bigger in seat size.

True statement. The padding makes the seats smaller by about a half size. So for instance if you are a 14 in a padded seat get a 13 1/2 in the hard seat
