Location: IL | I have read lots of information about treating stomach ulcers in horses with Aloe, but has anyone actually done any research to prove this? For example did anyone scope a horse with stomach ulcers and after 28 days of treatment the ulcers were gone or atleast looked like they were healing? I would think that really this experiment would be quite easy to do?? We all know that omprazole heals ulcers and there are studies to prove it, so why isn't there a study out there showing how Aloe heals them? |

| Aloe Vera juice does not heal ulcers. It's a good daily preventative but not actually heal. To my knowledge the only supplement that has pictures and actual scoping evidence of healing ulcers is THE. I know Wyomingbarrelracer has pictures and evidence that the formula actually heals. Curost, excel, etc all soothe and protect but not heal. |

| Aloe Vera does not heal ulcers. Dynamite has a clay that you mix , and give 1 tablespoon . I have used this and Aloe Vera together. It will heal.ulcers. There is also a feed called Kool Speed Plus that has testimonials from vets that it has healed ulcers . I have used oxy ulcer and it heals both fore and hind gut ulcers. |

| I use it as a daily preventative.
My horse had ulcers a couple years ago. I got her scoped, treated, and now I give her a 1/2 cup of aloe every day and I haven't had a problem since. Maybe I'm just lucky, but it's worked as prevention AFTER she was healed up. |

So basically if your horse has ulcers, Aloe is not going to heal them, you need to treat with omeprazole for 28 days and then give them aloe as a preventative?

| Be careful when treating with omeprazole. You do not want to eliminate all the stomach acid. A horse has to have some acid in the stomach. There is a product called Draw that you can buy that heals ulcers. Bristow Vet sells it.

Ok so what your saying is if your put them on aloe it will help symptoms but they will still have ulcers until you give them omeprazole to heal them? Right? |

| I have fed a jug of it to one of mine who I am starting to really suspect he may have ulcers. He's so cinchy and grumpy lately, last time I cinched him up and not tight the ears pinning and he lifted his leg to try and kick out. This kool speed plus feed has me intrigued. I just watched a video on fb with Dr depaulo (sp?) He demonstrated hoe to check for ulcers by palpation. He demonstrated on 3 horses, one had none, 2nd had slight and the 3rd was really badly suffering from ulcers. Very interesting. Course he said if you suspect ulcers remove grain from diet and molasses and feed a gut conditioner supplement. |

Location: **Cactus Country down in South Texas*** | I Have used "Aloe Vera" Juice in my daily feeding program for all of my horses for the past 7-8 years now. It is not a cure, but more of a prevention, and also soothes the stomach if something does flair up. My little black horse has been treated for ulcers and for prevention of them flairing up I feed 1cup of Aloe vera juice, along with (5-6 drops) Digestsen essential oil in his feed morning & night. And he seems to work great and stay happy. And if I do notice he is a little off I just up it for a few days until i notice a differance. And in the last 8 years I havent had a bad flair up but maybe once. |
