I live near Fargo and I would say there isn't much do to on this side of the state. The western side of the state is better and the badlands are a must see. Theodore Roosevelt National park is a great drive where you canl see wild horses and other wildlife.

It may be cold most of the year, flat as can be, and windy as heck but I love it here.
Hope you make it to ND sometime!

I think ND is beautiful in it's own way but a lot of people just can't look past the cold.

here it is.. Wonderful pic!!

T-Cat - 2016-04-16 11:33 AM As others have said, the eastern and western parts of the states are completely different.  I lived in ND a majority of my life.  I love the western part... it is rugged with the Badlands.  Theodore National Park is beautiful if you love nature.  Come in the summer so you don't freeze!!!!

I thought the Bad-Lands were in South Dakota... I drove through them.

The badlands are in both North Dakota AND South Dakota.

I live in eastern ND and it kinda reminds me of central IA but colder and longer winters. Flat crop land. I would defiantly recommend the western side to visit. The Garrison dam and west of there is also interesting.

We run our cows just west of the Park, about 19 miles NW of Medora.  This side of the state is stunning!  There are many things to do, and if you like the outdoors, you won't need to spend much money!  The badlands are gorgeous in late May and June.  I have a zillion pictures on my phone, but for some reason, I can't email them to myself this morning to post. :(  I can do it later, though.

Let me know if you'd like some specific info, I'm sure we could plan a couple of great days for you! :)

Thank you all! I'm writing this all down! Looks like I should fly into Bismark, do some things there and drive West! :) I always get the BEST advice on BHW for trips, I try to do it all!
