The only fly spray I have ever had ANY luck with at ALL is the Pirana In the Yellow Spray bottle. Its oil based so it stays on them even if they roll etc. Maybe someone will post a home made recipe I have seen before that uses skin so soft and Listerine I think?? Lots of people on here have had great luck I just get my Pyrana from feed store when its on sale for like 15.00 |

| I just ordered MOSQUITO HALT from Valley Vet which seemed to be the cheapest. I have been using it about 4 days and seems pretty good. I was using Pyranha and felt like it was pretty good but the MOSQUITO HALT had good reviews. |

Location: South | I recently bought some of the new Black bottled Absorbine fly spray. That stuff is awesome! Also kills ticks, and fleas for you inside pets too. Was about $20 a bottle but lasted a while and well worth it IMO. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | Fly season seems to never stop here. I go back and forth between Absorbine in the black bottle and Pyrhana. I also put garlic in my horses feed once a day. When they sweat they'll sweat out the garlic. You won't smell it but flies will and it helps. |

| I alternate between the yellow pyranha and tri tech.. both are alright, I usually end having to spray them down once a day. I can tell the horses appreciate it when the flies are bothering them because they will surround me when I'm out there with the bottle |

| I buy the 1/2 gallon size of dairy fly spray. At tractor supply. Put in my spray bottle it kills and stays on better than anything else I have tried.

Location: Slipping down the slope of old age. Boo hoo. | Gordon's does a great job -- and I live in the center of the mosquito / fly universe -- mosquitoes so bad I run fans 24/7 from late April until first hard freeze. Gordon's is long-lasting, has a pleasant odor and sunscreen. I also like Absorbine Ultra (black label). It's excellent, too. |

| I mix cider vinegar, Dawn and water - I've used Piranha too and think the cider mixture works about as well and a fraction of the cost. |

| I finallly just dropped a wad on fly/mosquito sheets for my 6. I am going thru a couple of bottles a week of spray, figure I might come out ahead in the long run. We have had so much rain mosquitoes are horrendous, one went out before being sprayed and his whole body is covered in bites :(. |

| KNOW YOUR FLIES ...
What we call horse flies are usually big and black with black
heads or smaller with green heads and deer flies ... these big
headed flies are typically unaffected by regular horse fly
spray due to their long blood sucking tubes ... but some
residual sprays will kill them within 24-36 hours but you
will never know it as more show up every day... .. lol
THESE FLIES WILL NOT ENTER A BARN OR ANY TYPE OF SHED THAT
BLOCKS THE SUN'S RAYS ... WHICH THEY USE AS A NAVIGATION
SYSTEM .... THIS WHY YOUR SMART HORSES MAKE A RUN FOR
COVER WHEN THEY SHOW UP ...
(bot flies will not enter a barn)
Any type of fly that looks similar to a house fly, horn flies, poop
fly, poop knat etc etc ..
will come into your barns to eat your horses ... lol
A good residual spray inside your barn and same stuff used on
your horses at a much smaller mix ratio works great on my horses.
And is cheaper than dirt ...
(interior .. I use a garden hose sprayer
(take down your water and feed buckets and don't spray
your feeders..... )
and wet down all stalls, walls, bedding, ceiling and then let it dry out
before bringing horses back into barn .. 8 hours minimum )
I have used all three of the following and their cousins with
great success on fly problems. Works for a week or two
between mistings ... unless it rains etc etc or they go rinse off
in a pond .. lol
For belly knats that create sores and crusty egg/larvae holes ...
I use a qt of corn oil mixed with one ounce of strong iodine (6-7%)
to spray a mist on the center line of their belly or of their rib cage.
Oil kills the larvae and flying adults won't land on the oil and the
iodine heals the larvae holes ...
Follow directions on the flyer you will find on these products and
don't you dare think if a little bit does this then I will double or
triple the ratio ... you are killing flies and not your horse .. lol
As you read the number of gallons each of these concentrated sprays
will make .. you will realize the huge profits these horse spray
companies are making ..... so save yourself some money and buy
something that works ...
I watch for qt spray bottles on sale for $1
and buy 10 of them ... a full years supply++ for use at barn and
to carry on my trailer ... I use a clean milk jug to mix a gallon of
spray at a time ...
ALL THREE OF THESE ARE GOOD STUFF ..

NOTICE THESE NEXT TWO HAVE THE SAME MSD DESCRIPTION
ROUTING ON THEIR LINKS ......
VERY SIMILAR COUSINS TO EACH OTHER ..

JUST MIST YOUR HORSES AND SAY GOOD BYE TO FLIES ..
