I'm curious those of you that have had KS surgery on your horses, how the felt when you started to ride them. I was off my horse for almost 2 years. Had surgery first of December and we started back under saddle the first part of April. Oh, and in between all the KS he also had EPM 2 years ago, but has recovered. Some atrophy in the shoulder, but vet said all muscles that he needs look fine.

My question is as you started to re hab your horse, did they feed a bit different that they did before the surgery when they were sound? Did they start out a bit stiff and not as smooth as before, but eventually worked out of it? If so how long did that take. I know after being off for 2 years, the re hab has to be slow and long, but I'm curious what others have experienced.

I did the 2 rounds of conservative therapy recommended before surgery, although I knew deep down the 2nd set was a was of time and money.

He has had 2 checks post op and back is fine. He's also had some chiro done because he was compensating for so long he got some other areas a bit out of whack.

Location: Nebraska		 I hate to jump in and steal your thread but how was the whole surgery experience? They feel strongly mine has ks (but need better X-rays) and was wondering about the whole surgery/recovery thing.
