My 4yo decided to fill out and is getting dry spots just behind his shoulders from the Lynn McKenzie Nueva now. It fit him perfect last year, but this year isn't. So, it's for sale and I'm on the hunt for something that might fit him.
I have offers for a trade of an Ammerman Angel Kisses and a Martha Josey Ultimate. Does anyone have any idea on how the bars might compare to the LM Nueva?
Thanks!

I have the same problem with my 3yo.  I'm trying different pads and such now. So far the best fit is to sadly switch her to my other horse's LM wide. Sorry, I don't have any experience with the other saddles you mentioned.

I believe the Ammerman will be more narrow than the Nueva. I'm having good luck with my Double J The Duke Wide fit.

ETA might be cheaper for you to get a different pad until her back is done changing? You could get a pad with pressure reliefs in the spots? I had my mare fitted online and got a 'The Right Fit' saddle pad and it is working fantastic! It is fitted to her back specifically.

Thanks all, I really appreciate it. My hunch says to go to a wider LM, it fit him so wel up until now. He's actually 5 now, he was 4 when I bought the saddle and it fit him well last year.
I had a thin pad (1/2" 5 star) before because it fit so well, so I can't see another saddle pad working to fix the problem? I feel like anything with more support/thicker is going to make it worse...

My mare is huge, and I played with several saddles and saddle pads and dealt with rolling etc. The pad I got for my mare  has pressure relief in the correct spot, and tapers off in certain areas where she doesnt need as much padding.

Good luck, it's a never ending battle!

I have a LM wide, and a LM standard tree. My 5 yr old is very mutton withered and would have dry spots and the saddle would roll. Both if them would but I know the wide fit him because it was fit for him. I went through a few saddle pads and had almost gave up and went another route. Darla schneider had me try one of her pads. Huge difference! No dry spots, no more rolling & I don't have to tighten so much. I can't believe the pad made that much difference but did. I'm sold on this type of pad with a bigger horse!

Ms Lynn actually has some newer trees out now. I think she has a wide Nueva and then one more that may be wider but now that I think, the Wide Nueva may be the widest. Just another option. I love my LM saddle and can't wait until I can afford another and stop switching back and forth on my boys.

Dont trade, I would check out the Crown C's they can make them with any size gullet you need just makes sure the bars are the angle that your horse is needing.

Thanks Southtx, I appreciate the direction. I won't trade unless I know it will fit him, so really there's slim chance of me trading :). I'd rather sell outright.

LM Wide Special. The flare of the bar is awesome, and fits the mutton wide backs

I have a couple MJ Ultimates, and I don't believe those will work for you either if the Nueva isn't.

At one point, I tried the wide nueva tree when the nueva was getting a little tight on another horse. It was a great deal wider than the regular nueva... as in too wide (and too much rock) for my horse that wears the LM wide. The big determining factor for you would probably be the flatness off your horse's back over the loins. Flatter- try to find a used LM wide, meletas flat tree, or a cj cactus. If there's more rock- try a wide nueva, my experience is meleta's older tree is tighter than the nueva.

Lynn was so helpful in talking with me about the different trees and why one would be better over the others. I believe if you buy through her it is less expensive than buying from Double J direct. I ended up liking the fit of the Pozzi better, but very grateful for her willingness to help me with my horse.

Thanks Rodeo and LovinLife! I haven't heard back from Lynn, but it's only been a couple of days (and the wkd). I'll look at his confirmation closer across his whole back too. I have a message into Meleta/Freedom Saddle, hope to hear from them too. Thank you! I've gotten some good ideas and advice!
