| Psalm 82. Is a song that cries out for justice in a world of injustice. From the writer's vantage point, he saw the poor mistreated, the orphan disenfranchised , and the suffer loaded down with even heavier burdens. And all of this was happening at the hand of those who had been given the responsibility to ensure fairness. Those trusted with power were abusing it.
Sadly, as we look at our world today, we're aware that TOO little in that regard has changed in three thousand years. Our enemy, Satan, has demonstrated a frightful ability to worm his way into the power bases of society to use them for his own ends. Far too often, individuals with selfish motivations and questionable agendas rise to places of power. Our hearts are especially grieved for those who suffer persecution and abuse at the hand of such people.
Perhaps you are dealing with a measure of unfair treatment in your own situation. Someone with power or influence over your circumstances is making your life difficult. Whether, like the psalmist , you're saddened by the injustice in the world around you, or you're dealing with it up close and personal, the good news is that our God " stands in the congregation of the mighty" and rules among the judges of is world! Verse 1 also triumphantly proclaims that those who my be "gods" in the eyes of people are no god to our God.
Keep in mind today that when we, who KNOW the true God, encounter justice and mistreatment at the hands of the powerful , we ALWAYS have a HIGHER COURT in which to plead our case. With even greater encouragement , verse 8 reveals to us that the day IS coming when our Lord WILL rule over ALL the nations, for He will " judge the earth...and shall inherit nations". This reminds us of the Angel's proclamation in Revelation 11:15' " The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign FOREVER and EVER!!
For it is WITH God all things are possible
Father God, guide me today to do all things that being glory and honor to You AMEN
