Does anyone use stall mats on the road? Like when you have to be stalled on concrete for several days. Looking for options that won't break the bank. Thanks!

Rest assured has those really light stall mats but idk how long they will last. They are usually like $80-100 depending on when you buy them. She goes to many of the big events. I like mine but next time I use them I am going to put a layer of pellet shavings on top of them before my flake shavings so they wont get as messed up. . . maybe?

I've heard of people using these but doesn't it take quite a few to cover a stall? I can only find them in 2x2 ft.

I bought some of the kids play mats but they take a lot of them plus they don't stay put.  Within an hour they were scattered all over the stall and I had used quite a few bags of shavings.  This year at Lincoln I'm just going to use about 10 bags per stall....not kidding.

Lowes had some mats with holes in them. I'm going to try it in my stall at home first.

I know you asked about mats, but they seem like lots of extra hassle. I invested in Easy Rides for the trailer and stall in them when it's concrete, and always spend the extra cash on lots and lots of shavings.

If you do find some mats that aren't a huge pain, and that you like, update us please!

One of the futurity trainers said she uses a few bags of the pelleted shavings and wets them and then puts the flaked shavings.
I seen some of the kid play mats in a stall at the BBR finals, scattered everywhere and the horse was still standing on concrete. I would like to try the ones with the holes in them, maybe they are lighter?

Pelleted bedding with thick flake shavings on top is what we use.  The pellets make a thick heavy base that stays put really well over concrete.  Flakes on top are nice and fluffy for additional padding.

We are going to need a loan just for shavings.  If I am on concrete, I'm not sure what I'm going to do but Nate can't handle concrete for 4 days, and I don't think Whisper would appreciate it either.
Wish we could do this pelleted idea, but no outside shavings. ugh.

Wonder if they will let us haul in the pelleted kind?  I have soft rides as well, but he likes to lay down which could still be uncomfortable??

By the time you buy 10 bags of shavings, it almost makes sense to just rent the mats??

Unless I can find a deal on light mats...I think I'll try the pellets and shavings. Thank you!

I bought some light mats at Harbor Freight for $10 and they cover a 17sq ft area, so I purchased a few. Not sure if they will work but thought I would try it and see.

We can't use anything except shavings so the pellets are out.  I'll probably take my play mats even though they don't stay put very well, along with lots of shavings and also Soft Rides.

Ya'll...Lowes has mats that fit together like a puzzle. they stay very well, I cover the floor 12 x 12, then put in 3 bags shavings. when done I pick them up, rinse them off, stack them, tie them, n head home. Been working with same set of mats for 6 years, no problems.

What if you duct tape the play mats together with the gorilla duct tape so they don't pull apart? Just a thought.
