About two months ago my horse was kicked pretty bad in the rear leg, he was missing some skin but otherwise seemed fine, no lameness etc. then about 2 weeks later the leg swelled, I've had him to two different vets (very good ones) we've done xrays etc and both said that he just had a contusion and it would be fine. Soo I did cold hose therapy 25 mins 2x a day for 2 weeks, bute, and stall rest, still swelling... vet said to wrap with surpass for a week then so I did that, still swollen, then he said to wrap 1 day then leave off for 2 wrap again leave off two for a week.... I've been doing that and once I take the wrap off, it swells right back up... he's also gotten really sore on it and it's blistering... I don't know what to do.... is this normal? it seems the swelling is going down a little but seems like a heck of a long time for this to go on.

the vet said I could ride him lightly so I have been just walking him for about 20-30 mins, it seems maybe a little better... it's his whole cannon bone that is swollen, the injury was on the side of the canon bone.

2 months and blistering no.. Id not wrap with surpass anymore.any photos?
is there a cut anywhere? it could be infected even with a small cut.. .. cuts can cause swelling for extended periods but the fact it was ok then swelled 2 weeks later is concerning..personally id be having another close look and check for any small puncture wounds.

NitrOxide is great for blood flow issues. I would like to see a picture too if you have one. Is he in a stall or a paddock where he can walk around?

yeah, that's what I'm thinking! I have an apt to bring him in Thurs... he doesn't like it touched now either so I don't know what's going on. doesn't seem lame, it just changes all the time.

Light exercise will help with blood flow. Do you have access to ice vibe boots or possibly a vibration plate? or PHT magnetic wraps?

Mine did this. I eventually had to put him on some strong antibiotics. It got better but still swells if he's in a stall overnight.
