Bump/swelling on knee but no lameness??

My 2 year old has some swelling/bump on the outside of her front left knee about the size of a golf ball. Not AS big as a golf ball but it's a circular spot similar in size, definitely doesn't look like an entire golf ball sticking off of her knee. It's squishy, doesn't bother her when I touch it, and she's not lame or the slightest bit off. She's still running around and up and down hills as usual. It has been there less than a week.
I wasn't as concerned at first since there wasn't any lameness, and thought it might be a bug bite or something. I've been cold hosing every day and it still hasn't gone down. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Every time I call the vet out for anything it ends up being nothing, except a big ding to the bank account ;
)
Anyone have have any ideas or suggestions before I call the vet out?
Non-horsey husband will not be thrilled, especially since we have a baby on the way!

Maybe she just bumped it and has a bruise. If it doesn't seem to be bothering her, give it a few more days a week to see if it goes away or at least gets smaller.
