Not sure about the recipe with Listerine, but I use 3 cups of water, 1.5-2 cups of Skin So Soft, .25 cup Dawn, 2 cups Vinegar, 15ml of Citronella & Eucalyptus (sp) oil, 1 Cup Lemon Juice. (I have varied all of these to different degrees for strength)

I haven't heard of a bug spray with listerine but have heard of it being used for rain rot? Anywho, I use a combo of water, apple cider vinegar, dawn dish soap and a mixture of a few drops of cedarwood, citronella, tea tree, and lemon grass essential oils. I used to put skin so soft in mine but it made it so oily and I worry about it heating up in the sun.

I sprayed me and my pony down with TerraShield by Doterra. Have to reapply every 4-6 hours but it works well while riding. It's essential oils that I mix in a spray bottle with fractionated Coconut Oil. It smells a lot better than regular fly spray lol

Recently on FB I saw an article about using WD40 on practically everything including horse/cow/dogs ect fly/tick protection. Said the research showed the secret ing was fish oil. Anyway I tried it on a mare I have that I've battled under belly bug sores for years plus the heat itch she rubs herself raw. Let me tell you, it worked miracles on her, healed up every sore she had, one spraying lasted her a solid week. So now every week when I do my shopping I buy 2-3 cans of it at the Dollar store. We did find a tick in one of the horses tails, I sprayed it and immediately it was dead. Amazing stuff. The article also said it was safe to use on people that had mosquito bites, fire ant bites with immediate relief. It's all I use now, and I've noticed very few flys on their legs, if anyone wants the article I can look it up and post it.

If you don't mind, that would be awesome! I have yet to find anything for Mosquitos that works for more than 20 minutes.

Before my mother got her knees replaced, she swore by WD-40.  It didn't fix her knees, but she said they didn't hurt as bad.  She is 95 this year.

I'd love to read this as well.  So you're using it all over them as repellent or just on the tick bites and sores?

The article was written by Ron English, amazing what you can do with this stuff safely. I don't know how to put the article on here, but if someone goes to FB, my page is Pat Cochran, i just reposted it.
