As some of you may know, I ordered a new Corriente saddle a few months ago and it arrived last week. Since so many people have been interested in them lately, I thought I'd share what I thought of the saddle!
I ordered a 15" barrel saddle, model CSB 515; Full Rough Out, Running W Trim, and
Tobacco Seat with Rainbow Stitching. The saddle came with aluminum stirrups and a hoof pick holder on the back cinch. I also ordered the matching breast collar as well. The saddle the I rode in before the Corriente was a Tripple Creek.

Lets start with the horn. Rawhide was put together very nicely and has no catches anywhere. A little short for my taste, I like tall cutting style horns, but I'm still able to wrap my fat little hand around it comfortably.

As you can tell in this picture the horn isn't as stumpy as it looks in the first picture. Nice shape of the pommels and the trim could've been a little better but not bad. Could also be the angle of which I took the picture...

Now the seat felt VERY different to me than my Triple Creek. With the TC, I felt like I was sitting on an upside down  V and had a good close contact. In the Corr. I feel like I'm riding on a square, which was weird at first and hurt my butt bones the first ride, but I've gotten used to it and I don't mind it near as much. Fabolous rainbow stitching on the seat, lets my inner tiny diva out and it looks real nice. This picture doesn't do justice.

The last time I had a rawhide cantle it wasn't made best, warped a little, and was a little scruffy in parts so I was worried about how this one would be. I am pleasently surprised, nice smooth rawhide (just like the horn) and ties in very well to the cantle. The height is 4" (measured it myself to check) and it feels a little less than that but it's probably because my TC is a 5". Since the saddle has arrived I've done 1 competitive run on a hard running horse and I'm hapy to say that my butt never bumped up to the top of the cantle, butt stayed nicely in the seat.

The saddle came with a back cinch (I believe all of their barrel saddles do) and it's nice, just needs oiled up a few tiems and broken in. Came with a girth leather attachment with was a plus to me. The hoof pick holder is a bit snug for all of my hoof picks, might have to go to the local tack store to find a thin enough pick, but the button clasp works well and hasn't unpopped itself yet.
(Forgot to take picture of the off billet, opps!) Honestly I didn't like the off billet they set with the saddle. It has leather on the outside and nylon on the inside, but it was too bulky for me. Easy fix, I just switched my old nylon off billet to the saddle and I like it a lot more.
(Apparently I forgot to take a picture of the stirrups as well ) Like any other new saddle, the stirrups need to be broke in, oiled a few times, and twisted out. Thankfully it hasn't seemed to take much time for the stirrups to turn after one oiling, twisted with a 2x4 in the sun a couple of days, and ridden in 5 times.

The beastcollar matches the saddle very well! The only difference is the leather on the breast collar is roughed out more than the saddle but other than that I have no complains!
The D rings on the saddle that you attatch the breast collar to are a little lower than I like BUT they do not make your breastcollar low now will it rub on the horses shoulder weird, or at least it won't on my horse.

Over all, for the price it was a good buy! I almost bought the full roughout that had no padding and I don't know if my butt bones could've handled that. I'd also like to buy one of their newer barrel racing models somtime in the future and one of their cutting saddles.

Thank you! I appreciate the detailed
Observation. Seriously looking into purchasing one. I'm concerned about the short horn tho. I like a lil something to grab. I guess I should measure
Mine and see what I'm working with.

I love that short horn! THe tall skinny horn on a lot of the new style saddles are a nightmare for a big chested gal! LOL Ive ruined more bras on those tall skinny horns than I care to mention  I ride in an older Martha Josey and it has a shorter horn like that. I cant ride in the newer MJ saddles because of the tall skinny horn. Short waist + big boobs + wardrobe malfunction! LOL Thanks for the review

Lol well when you go to reply or quote a person (as I am doing now) there is a button under all the emoticons that says "Use Rich Text Editor". When it brings up a new page, then you click on the image button (or the 13th button on the right) and paste on the url of your image. I usually have to upload my image at tinypic.com or postimage.org and then use their special url after uploading the picture and paste it in the first space (after you've clicked on the image icon first). There you can change the width and height of your image but it won't rotate it for you, either you'll have to rotate it on postimage.org site or originally from your computer. I usually like to preview the post before I submit it just to make sure the picture I'm posting isn't too large or weird in some way.

Yes! I have the same problem!!! And my sweet, honest mare actually slammed to a stop behind the 2nd barrel one time because I was hung up on the horn. She patiently waited (timer still going) until I un-stuck myself and could continue. LOL

I love this saddle review as I also ride in a Triple Creek and like the comparison of how the narrow twist vs. ground seat, etc. feels. Nice review.

I love mine! I've had mine for 13 maybe 14 years and it has held up greatly.  I dont know how many horses I broke in with that saddle. There have a been a few times I have left it out in the rain, the hot hot south Texas sun and all kinds of weather. Not to mention the few horses that flipped over on it when they first had a saddle put on them. Ive had horses with the narrowest of withers and some who barely had any and my saddle fit them all great. The only complaint (if you can really call it a complaint) is that it still squeeks as if it was a brand new saddle.
