Location: Somewhere around here | What brand of saddles do you believe are the best "bang for you buck"? There's a lot of nice saddles out there, but without having the money and life experience it's hard for people to know what each brand is like! |

| I love my Pozzi. Not cheap, but I got it used for $700. It fits every horse I have, including my super high withered pole horse, and my fat little barrel of a breakaway horse. Never gets rain spots, and I swear I've ridden through a hurricane in the thing. Plus it just fits my riding style and somehow never gets in my way. Worth every penny of 700 bucks. |

| You can get a brand new corriente for about 700. They are a great bang for your buck and fit a wide variety of horses. I have ridden in 3 over the years and loved them all and they held up well. I now have a Caldwell and it was NOT CHEAP, even used, but I could sell it for what I paid for it years from now. |

| I have had Billy Cook saddles for 40 years. I got my wide gullet saddle out to ride at the house yesterday because it is lighter and is easier to get on my 16-1 horse. They have really gone up in the past few years but all saddles have. I have two CJ trees and a Buster Welch tree. They fit just about anything I just have a large horse. Be sure that the saddle is from Sulfur OK NOT Greenville TX. I still have my 40 year old saddle. The other three are about 8 years old. They are in the price range of about $1000.
I have a Josey Ultimate that I love but it was $2300. That is what I compete in but it is a struggle to get on my big horse.

| I liked my Shiloh, but the horn was too low for me when I used it on my front endy mare. I kept missing it. But it was a comfortable saddle saddle. |

Location: Texas | I've ridden Tod Slone, Coats, Josey, Double J, Corriente..
The Coats saddle was very well made. You can get a Lazy L for a cheaper price and the saddle is still a high quality saddle that fits a lot of horses in my opinion. The original Coats I had was easy to sell as well. I would have kept it had the one horse it really mattered to liked it better. It fit her, it was well made, she just liked another saddle I had better.
The Josey flex tree saddle has done me a lot of good. It's not super expensive, and it fits a lot of horses.
I won a double J Pozzi saddle and I've just had trouble getting it to fit my horses without 4" of air between the skirt and the pad in the back. I just can't get past that so I don't use it.
My Tod Slone was a great saddle too, a little heavy, but a good, well made saddle.
Corriente was a good using saddle but I didn't like running in it. |

Same here! I kept holding out for a pozzi but I found a great deal on a shiloh contender and ended up getting it.. I like it better than the pozzi |

Which model did you get? I have the contender and the horn actually seems taller than the other saddles I've had. I'm thinking they can customize the size of the horn for different saddles.. |

It was the Ed Wright saddle they made years ago. My daughter still runs in it with no problems. It was/is a VERY comfortable saddle and kept my feet underneath me like I like. I just need a taller horn I think. |

| Bang for buck depends on how much the buck is...
Triple creek and corriente are a couple of my favorites under $1000
Infinity and Shiloh come to mind in the $1000-$2000 range but I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of. Haven't been impressed lately with the workmanship on circle y, reinsman, etc.
$2000 and up your options grow a little. Ive seen good craftsmanship on most of the Martins I've been around, we've ropes the p*** out of a Martin trophy saddle my fiancΓ© won in '05 and its solid. Double J, the one I had I liked, the craftsmanship I've seen on new ones leaves some to be desired. Cactus is okay as well.
If you can get in the $3000-$4000 range new not only can you get a great one like a Caldwell, but the value they'll hold over time is superior to other brands as well. |

Location: Tuttle Oklahoma | I also second the Robbie Phillips! I loved my first one so much I have another one on order. They sit you right where you need to be a have a very secure seat. I managed to lose both my stirrups by the entry of the 2nd barrel at BBR and never moved an inch. Robbie Phillips learned from his father whom friends of mine still own and ride his saddles that are at least 21 years old. They are very well made and built saddles. |
